Serco's Assault on Itan: The Aftermath

12»
Mar 03, 2006 Cunjo link
Due to the encryption of our command channel being compromised, the Itani were waiting for us as we began our attack. Virtually every member of our unit died gloriously in the furious onslaught against overwhelming numbers. Many of them took great number of the Akanese with them as they left this universe for the glory that awaits them as warriors and heroes of the Serco Dominion.

Some of our command survived the initial confrontation and penetrated the Itani defenses to fly on Arman's Reward in Itan, and avenge our brethren as we bombed the capitol. It was here that the last of Lady Serco's warriors were defeated, pushed back or made heroes by the station's defenses.

Many Serco Warriors have died today, and as those warriors live on as Heroes of the Serco Dominion, those of us who remain must admit defeat and fall back to our own borders.

However, while we may have been defeated this day, this is not the end. There will come a day when Nothing – not Akan, nor the Itani, or even fate itself will stand in the way of our flight to Victory and Glory.

It was a good day to die.

<OOC> We had such insurmountable technical difficulties as you would not believe if you weren't there.
First the Serco fleet received an ITANI HAC (along with Niki... The Lady only knows how HE got there...)
Then we got a HAC that just spun in circles and shot at itself...
We had client issues (btw, grouping is STILL b0rken)
We had command issues (groups fell apart or got separated/lost)
We had WCs (if you were there, you know...)
And of course we learned that the server spawns x number of SF for EVERY Serco... and they're nasti

In short, things went from SNAFU to TARFUN to FUBAR very quickly, and plateued somewhere around there. If there's to be a second time, we need to do a lot more planning, and probably get more of the guides/devs in on it early.

Special Commendations to:
Viper88 - who stuck it out and hung in there like a madman
Nautargos - who put forth his finest in spite of devastating setbacks and cashflow issues
Niki - who was the thorn in our side and caused more havoc than anyone else
Ghost & Onina - who were in the middle apocalyptic furball in the beginning, and continued to stir up trouble.
Momerath - who summoned TWO capships, more chaos than a station full of space cows, and provided for at LEAST half an hours worth of utter confusion (no pun intended).
Ray - who designed the loveli new UI (make what you will of this...)

and to everyone else who participated: Thank you, and I'm sorry it didn't turn out more fun for everyone.

=====:::BEGIN TRANSMISSION:::=====

The Serco forces made a pitiful attempt to invade Itani space tonight. The Itani Nation sent peacekeepers to the Edras/Jallik wormhole to defend our space from incursion. Some of our UIT brothers (and sisters) meet up with us to defend our nation space. The Serco “forces” were disorganized and inept. They made a couple of clumsy attempts to cross into Jallik and were rebuffed at almost every turn.

They couldn’t a sustained force into our space. But they did accomplish some underhanded tactics by having Itani admired UIT and Serco attack us in our own space. I among others lost significant Itani faction while defending.

The Serco forces did attempt to regroup numerous times, but couldn’t get organized. The Serco representative, Viper88, surrendered to the Itani nation at 2:20:45 about 1 hour into the “battle”.

[03/03/06 22:20:15] [100]Jestatis Bess waiting to take sercos surrender :)
[03/03/06 22:20:39] [100]<Viper88> jestatis bess
[03/03/06 22:20:45] [100]<Viper88> we officially surrender

LeberMac suggested that we show the Serco forces how a truly organized force works and we crossed into Serco space and attacked Sol II H-13 Sky Command. 10 Itani pilots wiped out all resistance in the sector and celebrated in the Sky Command bar.

I truly hope that if the Serco nation ever thinks of invading our space agin they will PLAN something first.

Many thanks to my fellow Itani brothers and the UIT who helped us defend our space. And Special thanks to the brave Itani pilots who brought the fight to the Serco.

You SCAR have brought shame the Dominion!

Shame? Man, Shame is that SkyCommand's tavern does not have decent TEQUILA. Anyway, there I was, celebrating my new station, getting rid of the dead serco corpses that died in the assault, and even planning new color schemes for my office bar area, when along come more Serco to kick me out!

I mean, Kobe tried but could not really figure out how to evict me. Showing promise, he called for a little help, and the more experienced Nautargos and Keira came a'knockin. With no supplies, no lines of resupply or reinforcement, I was forced to withdrawl the occupation force back to Latos to plan further incursions, since I couldn't sit in the station, I mean come ON: Nautargos called me a COWARD! I had to leave to avoid his taunting! We'll see what happens nest week, mister...

OOC: I think the Serco assault was snakebit from the start. Too many technical errors with capships and stuff. Some of the Serco got thru to Itan but we waited around and nothing hapened with 'em. So we decided to make a counter-invasion.

Kudos to Cunjo for this event. If they could have had a capship, this would have been freakin' awesome. Let's try again next week, OK?

Before we got going, 10 of us at the staging area in Sol II B-5:
*Thanks to Astaroth for the pics, the newest member of [Itan]...

I'll be honest and say that within 1 minute of our invasion, most of the attackers were dispatched by SF. Initial reports from Holdan put the number of SF bots at upwards of 20. Some returned for repair and made secondary and tertiary runs. Little resistance was met. Hence my short-lived occupation.

Ladies and gentleman, Welcome to the hell that is logistics. If you want to get more then a few people together to one place at a certen time things will go all to hell. That is logistics for you. Learn well from this and learn fast for change is coming and with it more problems. The more people you have involved the more problems increase exponetialy not directly. This is one of the reasons why the US military is over 2/3 logistics and less then 1/3 fighting. If any UIT citizen wants to know more /msg me in game.

It's a well-known fact that logistics take up lots of resources. And Vendetta doesn't really have means to supply said resources, at least not yet. This made me remember radio training, will post about it in suggestions...

What gets me ROFLing is that "Itani" pilot flying a prom. No doubt some "Proud Serco" were flying valks, too. I just find it extremily funny that you pile insults and scorn on the other side and then go and kiss their behinds just to get access to a ship.

I also find it most amusing that the projected four hours was cut abruptly short; I actually expected the Serco to stick to it out of sheer stubborness, specially with all that talk about "warrior's honor" and stuff they like to spew out on 100 and the periodical smack-talk threads. Guess Honor had to gave way to Reality, Economics, or both, and then what does that tell you of the Serco Ideology, hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm?

That said, furballs may never be fair, but they are always one hell of a lotta fun; too bad you couldn't sustain it for as long as you hoped for.

I dunno, Stranger. It was relatively easy to turn our defensive group into an offensive one, make our way quietly to Sol II, meet up in an empty sector with some repair dudes, and then make a coordinated jump into Serco space. Wasn't much to it. Just "OK screw this waiting around, all Itani quietly make their way to Sol II D-14 and we'll counterattack." Simple.

It would have been MUCH more fun attempting to stop a Serco capship from reaching Itan, with a defense-in-depth, constantly re-homing at stations closer to Itan, while we whittled the capship down. THAT would have rocked.

I would be intereseted to see how long an enemy cap would last against repeatedly spawned strike forces.

Not very.

The way the SFs operate is the main reason i didnt participate, I knew the effort was doomed from the beginning.
Mar 04, 2006 MSKanaka link
Well, it might not have been had it been done on the test server—that's assuming that the Strike Forces are still turned off there.
Mar 04, 2006 Ghost link
Should this be done again, maybe the Edras/Pelatus wormhole would be a better spot?
Mar 04, 2006 Chikira link
Yes this was a wonderful event however we should move the story further to an Itani retaliation, or a skirmish in grey space near a Itani or Serco border.

* We must burn the Serco homeworlds for this treachery, long have the infidels been allowed to spread flith throughout the galaxy. We must remove the thorn from the rose, and we must do it quickly. Let the childern of the Serco Dominion cry in fear, Itan will not allow incursions into our homelands, Let us remove the impurties of society, the Serco scum*

Hehe, i feel like my characters a bit extreme do you not?

I feel like he's an Akanese and should be shot, decapitated, quartered, emasculated, hanged, or have any other similarly painful death-causing punishment.

One or more, but not zero. Your choice.
