Yeah, didn't starfreeze put up another TS server for us? I have not tried it for about 2 months...

I'll try it again tonight if I can.

Anyway, all of this will be "moot" when the kickass "Homeworld2-Style" Command & Control interface gets implemented...

Will it really? The importance of TeamSpeak, especially in a twitch combat game as Vendetta Online, will probably never decrease. Regardless of how well the command interface will work, it can't replace direct communication between the pilots.

I suppose you are right. However, I've found that (at least over XBox Live) there is always too much chatter to be clear, even on small 4-man teams, the players never shaddup. Maybe it's just because of the prevalence of 10-year olds in that market.

Ideally, voice commands would be the best, tho. I agree. But one more thing - due to the prevalence of alts in this game, I'd bet that less than 1/4 of the active playerbase would be willing to commit to hopping on TS, in order to conceal their "other" identities.

Oh and I forgot to hop on Starfreeze's TS server to see if it weas still around. I'll try tonight. I really really PROMISE.

Hit it on the head, LeberMac.

Wait... you mean Verdandi is a GUY! OMG!

Let's have all the non-multiple-alt personalities get online and test this out. Everyone knows my only alts are a1k0n, ScurvyMac and smittens.

[EDIT] OK, I tried StarFreeze's TS server ( starfreeze4.no-ip.info ) and he probably took it offline, most likely since NO ONE USED IT, well besides me, and when I was on, no one was there. [/EDIT]

Oh, and I wont use teamspeak, cos I have a hard time understanding none english folk (by english, I mean, from england) - and vice versa, so it just gets more annoying when trying to arrange stuffs.

I have a TS server, but since nobody used it for what it was set up, it's "offline" at the moment.

And I'm with yoda on the language thing. Playing Xbox Live I've found people with nigh-unintelligible accents (whereas I just get pegged instantly as the spick in the group and am relegated to cannon fodder duty or told to "go back to my country"), so even if I avoided RP by just using speech with Jayce or Jex, I'm not about to start guessing what ya'll sayin' oba da comm, see?

Haha Obsidian.

Anyway, I can do funny voices over TeamSpeex or Skype. That's super-duper entertaining.

We've used Skype before for group coord, but there's a limit of 5 people. Which actually might be the upper limit of good voice coordination, anyway...

I can see that people might worry about their alts being found out, but I find that to be a minor impediment. With the active players page and chatlogs, it is fairly easy to monitor playing times/behavior, so alts could be found out anyway. However, I have to admit that I don't really care about whether other people know I'm this or that char, since I can't RP that well, so I might be biased towards the TS about this.

As for TeamSpeak... the fact that it hasn't been available for Mac OS X until just recently might be one of the reasons it wasn't widely employed. Also, I'm wondering what it'll do to the connection quality, since I have next to no experience with such applications.

And yes, 4 people might be the limit, seeing that radio discipline probably won't usually be obeyed.
