PIRATES INVADE THE UIT CAPITAL! WHERE ARE THE VIPERS!?

A contingent of CLM and SYN pirates mounted an assault on the UIT capital stations at Dau tonight. Members of TGFT, PA and several independent pilots tried unsuccessfully to defend the station.

Dau has been under massive pirate assault for over a week now. Efforts by the UIT security forces, TGFT, and a single Viper have failed to stave off the assault.

As many of our readers know, grey space based pirates have become more brazen of late, turning previously secure sectors into war zones. Grey pirates have been ranging throughout UIT space wreaking havoc on trade and taxing UIT Security Forces to the breaking point.

“These attacks are unconscionable,” says UIT Senate Spokesman Baron Munchausen. “Where are our sworn protectors?! WHERE ARE THE VIPERS!?”

Indeed, throughout the last week of pirate invasions into UIT space only a single Viper, a Serco pilot called “Freedombird” has responded to calls for help. So where are they?

The Vipers aren’t talking. Freedombird refused to comment, and messages sent to Viper Command have so far gone unanswered.

CLM Commander Yoda claims no knowledge of the attacks in UIT space. Yoda’s only statement: “You’re nuts. CLM doesn’t pirate. What the hell are you talking about anyway?! We’re a freakin’ peace loving trade guild. Damn.”

The UIT is at a loss. “We can’t defend our new pilots!” Says UIT Senator Portus Greyfus. “Our new pilot training program is at risk. This could have serious ramifications for our economy. If we can’t put new pilots into space, the Union is doomed.”

TGFT economic analyst Obsidian tells us the UIT’s conclusions are correct.“ It’s true,“ states Obsidian, “Unfortuately, due to the freedom the UIT has in trade throughout the galaxy, UIT traders are generally more successful, and therefore retire sooner than traders from other nations.”

The UIT often reassures new pilots that UIT Nation Space, specifically Dau and Arta Cealestis, are safe, and that pirates tend to congregate in Grey space.

“We maintain that Dau is safe for new pilots,“ claims UIT Senate Spokesman Baron Munchausen. “These pirate attacks will be dealt with.”

Will they? CNN has learned through comfidential channels that CLM has launched a campaign to infiltrate UIT space and disrupt trade for the foreseeable future. CLM claims no knowledge of such a plan, but our confidential sources confirm that it is indeed happening. But to what end?

CNN has been unable to confirm the ultimate goal of the pirate raids, but rumors abound…

“They’re just jerks,“ claims pilot Urim. “They just want to be jerks. Jerks jerks jerks.”

Ecka Estenk, Commander of TGFT, has another explanation.

“They’ve got something to prove,” says Ecka. "We’ve driven them out of grey space. The unfortunate result is they’re moving into friendly stations in UIT space. Unlike Serco and Itani nations, the Union is still driven by capital, and so local jurisdictions have more pull than the Union Government as a whole. It’s the price we pay for free trade. Unfortunately, this time, we’re unable to control it.”

Another man had this to say: "It's Blak! [The now disbanded Black Lance Guild -ed.] Has to be. They're like 50-armed puppeteers, pulling their strings all over the galaxy, steering every one of us toward their own devious end game!"

Whatever the reason, the result is the same:

UIT space is no longer safe.

Rest assured, they're paying for every cubic meter they trespass.

/me paints more black skulls on his score board. "5:1 this time, not bad."

It is like they *want* me to be a Viper instead of a nationalist. Someone tell me I'm wrong.

*yawn*

You mean UIT space used to be safe at one point? Damn, I couldn't tell, what with all the people going up there and shooting newbies for no particular reason other than to grind their PK count...

Awww, you didn't try Ecka's accent. I thought that was part of the contract you agree to when you post on the boards, that if you have Ecka speak through a post of yours you have to at least attempt his accent...

I refused to comment!? No one asked me anything! But, it is true, as of right now the overall Viper force is too small to handle a CLM/SYN assault all on our own. We appreciate the help that [PA], [TGFT], [ITAN], and [ONE] have provided, as their pilots have gone above and beyond what I could possibly ask of them. And, in this state of emergency, we will be offering escorts out of UIT space for all non-combatants. Any UIT pilot who is willing and able to fight is asked to report to me or Strat for a briefing on the situation at hand. Godspeed to us all.

See? even the Viper spokesperson admits that it's an EMERGENCY! That [VPR] is "too small" and weak to do its job.

They are advising that non-combatants leave UIT space! Imagine!

I evened out at 1:1 for kills, which is pretty good for me considering that most of the time I got whacked it was by a SF. (Or by that sneaky Mor Isil sneaking up on me)

I got killed by the SF most of the time, and I think 3 times by an opposing pilot. However, I killed over 20 TGFT, ONE and Viper, and another few hundred SF.

Yeah, we win.

If the UIT is so worried about pirates, perhaps they should not be so quick to be duped, by said pirates, into reducing the standing of those who actually defend UIT space.

Consider, UIT lawmakers, if a Pillar of Society is fired upon by a person of equal or lesser (albeit, still good) standing, the fired-upon PoS should be exempt from retribution for defending themselves and UIT space. The title of PoS should carry at least some "benefit-of-the-doubt" status. Perhaps, at the very least, consider investigating the matter before removing standing.

I haven't the time (nor the desire) to defend UIT space when I'm busy simply trying to get back into it's good graces after being punished for popping a rat who somehow managed to get some decent standing. Consider not betraying your defenders, UIT, or deal with the problem on your own.

the big problem was some of the "defenders" accidentially killed sf bots, i seen vardonx (i forget the spelling) using lmines killing several strike force.

I also thought Vardonx dropped lmines. Could have been Moda, though. I know it was Moda who lmined an Itani station during the DR today... :D

Was it a guild decision to hire CLM to assist you in the NW?

I have to go on record to say that TGFT has not put a full fledged attempt into this yet, we have been doing some in depth research and testing new technology lately so don't mind us.

Mad Miner Moda.
