I think he was speaking of RL, Gav.
ew, RL.
I thought that was something that we were told would come and haunt us if we didn't eat all of our food.

I would like to input that my comment, were I to actually comment, would have included more words than "jerks." I usually attempt to make my comments at least partially intelligent-sounding.

I'm disappointed in the direction the dominion has headed, even if I unknowingly helped it. Hopefully someday the community will be large enough to support a serco guild that doesn't abide by the traditional itani idea of "honor".
I don't know. I think the Itani should be dancing in the streets celebrating the failures of the Serco nation. They went from one very strong Serco guild to two week, directionless ones.
It made no difference, Itan bluntly ignored any serco victory regardless of the guild's power.
As it should have.
When the Serco have a guild to rival ITAN, things will be interesting. This will only occur if a bunch of old players come back and re-invigorate the Serco nation.
Or if a bunch of existing ones forego their Blue and Yeller identities and embrace the Red side.

Breaking News:: Pirates furball in B-8 . after sustaining heavy losses many pirates resorted to using swarms rather than skill. one such incident places impavid commonly known as tumblemonster at the tail end of a streak of kills procurred only after he began aimlessly swarming the masses. and with blatant disregard for any honor he continued in such ways as only he can to gain his own positive ratio. but alas its a farce he'll never even hit a red giant with gravities help.
Thus we can see the pirates faced a devastating loss deep within their claimed territory.

lol. Says the guy who turned tail with the Itani to hide while we hung out and mopped up. Final tally? 8 pirates remain, no one left to challenge them.
Punks.

B8 is nothing more than a theme park.
I blew up your trident, neiner neiner neiner!
Also, most of them yeller fellers were hidin out in thier trident till the pirates and other non-uit supporting pilots made it a lump of target. As for swarms, I cannot say for sure, but I assumed they were being used to take down the tridents shields and turrets, but I joined the furball a little late, so I cannot be positive.

I remember the anti-pirate group started swarming and Lmining first. Also, some of them using their x-1s ran away as soon as they were low on health.
moving X-1s down from isolated itani space is a drag! fighting till you need to repair is not honorless, just good tactics...
Furballing in B8 is a sport, not some grand epic battle. If that's how you want to play said sport Rejected, don't be surprised when the other team goes back to work (Pirating) instead of playing games with your sorry ass.
Ask yourself: would you schlep valks to greyspace if you weren't worried about you death counter.
Why not accept your loses.
Why not accept your loses.
Because, while this -is- just a game, why should someone not -attempt- to extricate themselves from a bad situation? You may call it cowardice, and it may very well be, but when it's obvious you are overwhelmed, the SMART thing is to retreat, regroup and come back.
I find the lack of a real death penalty to be a major drag in PvP. I mean, it's impossible to hold a sector for any real length of time. No one wins except thru superior numbers. Tactics are a waste of time. Taking out important targets first, is a waste of time, because they'll be back in almost no time, fully equipped, fully repaired.
Think about it.. Group tactics: take out the opponent with the most firepower FIRST, then, since the opposing teams firepower has now been greatly reduced, finish them off.. Except that in 15seconds, the other guy is back, with a full load, completely repaired..
Think how boring border skirmishes would be if all the caps respawned after a few seconds.. There'd be no point.

You've got me confused. Is running while a good tactic a waste of time (by virtue of being a tactic)? Or is something else in play here like say being too proud to either lose gracefully or extricate oneself fully from the situation by not showing up in the first place to the dread sector.
Agree break this game is a PVP with a incompleate role playing shell added. I would hope a fix like a combat sports league with stadium sectors would be added so that people who like PVP with no wait or real cost for new ships could fight there and have the sponcers pay for them. Then some costs could be added to being killed (you eject and get recovered)out side of the stadiums like a time delay to your alt coming back (you could play other alts but the system you died in would be locked out till ejected alt is eligible to come back)plus the great overpayment on escorts (even borked it way to much some times) could be fixed.
Pointsman, at this point, running away from a fight is considered bad form.
"Death Means Nothing" in VO. Ships are effortlessly replaceable and earning money to GET ships is ludicrously easy. So dying essentially means a temporary removal from the combat arena.
Those who run away are essentially trying to piss off those who have earned a kill. There is no reason to return to repair, only to reload weapons.
I can see the logic in running away if you are out of ammo, when the fight cannot be won.
However, running away from your opponent, especially when you have an energy-weapon loadout, immediately brands you as a cowardly spineless runner, one of the most despised types of players in this game.
Many of the people I have fought have run away at some point in the past. Some run because they have not fully embraced the mantra "Death Means Nothing", some run because they want to annoy me and rob me of a PK which I have earned, still others run because they feel that the "odds are not fair."
With the current state of the game, there is absolutely no reason you should run from a fight if you are in a combat ship.
There are a few exceptions:
1. You are not homed nearby
2. You are running a trade mission
3. You are running in the Deneb Run or something similar
4. Your target is leaving the sector and you're pursuing
5. You're engaged or about to be engaged with another pilot(s) in a fight
6. You're in a duel and someone butts in.
Those are about the only exceptions I can think of at the moment.
to those of you who have run from me over the years I have one thing to say to you:
runners.

Personally, leebs, I think that state of mind is part of the reason you have trouble dodging (well, that and your near-constant state of inebriation).
For me, running is the pretension that death does mean something; the act being the prevention of that end. Its not that I particularly want to 'deny another player of their rightful PK', its that I want to be in the mindset of a survivalist.
That said, if I'm accused of being a runner, my impulse is not to deny it, but to ask "What of it?". After all, pks, by the same token as deaths, are just statistics, and are likewise (almost) worthless as well.
Ponder that philosophy for awhile.
