So, the other day, Pandoram, of TGFT, blew up my Goli that I had left in Latos F-12 (I'd been called afk). Now, Pandoram claimed he had apparently been told it was "YT-1300's Goli". Given I painted it Imperial Purple, and named "The Light of Blarg", I find this claim preposterous, but irrelevant.
It is my understanding that TGFT are TRADERS. By what right do these alleged traders boom innocent, non-hostile vessels?
NOTE: Pandoram did pay a weregild to me, and this is not about the loss of the ship, but about members of an alleged trader guild booming non-hostile ships.

To clarify, I was present in that sector, chased Pandoram around a bit, chased him to N-2. Then left. While I was in Sedina, he PM'd me, taunting me that he "could have deshielded" my goliath. Not having a goliath, I replied that I doubted it. He then PM'd me that my "goli was at 27%", which I thought odd.
But this is a prime example of why FAMY shoots TGFT every single time and does not accept payment from them.
In order for that to change, TGFT will need to agree to the folowing:
1) Not initiate hostility toward FAMY pilots. If one hails for payment and the TGFT pilot would rather fight, then this is an appropriate response. If the TGFT pilot finds a FAMY capship or transport a "lucrative target," and decides to initiate hostility, this is not appropriate.
-other guilds do this automatically. They always have. And they enjoy the ability to purchase our Platinum Warranty for a mere 300-400k. Often only 2,000 credits if they are under 4/4/4/4/4.
2) FAMY will need user keys to the stations. In exchange, we will provide protection and defense if the station is not being taken by entities that also have us keyed. And we will not assist other entities with taking stations for which we are already keyed. Nor will we pirate, shoot, or otherwise attempt to sell a "warranty" in the conquerable station sector.
I think it's a pretty good deal.
What comes with our Platinum Coverage? safety from all FAMY warranty sales and defects inspectors for 24h at prices as low as 2,000 credits (for 4/4/4/4/4 newbs or below). You also get assistance if we're available in getting past dangerous pilots. This can be in the form of advice, distraction, or even "inspection" of the badguys' ships.
Of course, while we cant shoot the ships of entities we're allied with, we can give advice on how to get past if it's possible. And we're available. And we're asked (we're not psychic).

That about sums up the post, they shoot idle capships because they are broadly incompetent at piloting. Those of us who know them know they are incompetent at other things too, such as dispute resolution or guild diplomacy.

Pandoram, you paid me a weregild, and I let the matter slide. This is not about Pandoram shooting Faille. This is about The Mighty Empire of Blarg asking The Guild of Free Traders to justify one of their members initiating non-consensual combat against a non-hostile vessel. Whether you thought I was YT is irrelevant. The fact that it was you is irrelevant. The fact that a member of TGFT attacked and destroyed a non-hostile ship, without provocation, is what is relevant.
If you wear a guilds tags, you represent that guild. Had you not been in TGFT when you boomed my Goliath, I would not have asked this question.

I consider the matter between Pandoram and myself settled, and am not seeking reparations from TGFT. However, Pandoram wore TGFT tags at the time, and I believe this kind of nefarious behavior breaches TGFT's guild charter. Such matters should not be kept behind closed doors when there is a suitably entertaining public forum freely available!

TGFT allows combat against the hive, agreed duels, and in defense of free trade, such as shooting pirates or known guild enemies.
Yt-1300 is both a pirate and a known guild enemy so the destruction of his ships would be allowed.
FYI if you /charinfo a capship you can compare the levels with those of a suspected owner. It is easier to find the levels of a guilded player.

This is very interesting. I would suggest if you have a proposal for TGFT that a post be made on TGFT.org so that we can discuss in council. I will do that for you if you don't mind me stealing your post YT, via cut and paste.
As too our members behaving badly, if I am on, I would appreciate an in-game pm as I am sure our other council members and leaders would, I too prefer Ethical game play. I am a Free Trader and I prefer to trade with whom I want when I want.
While I understand and appreciate the offer YT has made, I would like the opportunity to discuss it with our other council members and perhaps counter offer, that does not mean a counter offer will be made, it simply means that is what I intend to do.
