I don't remember date nor version number when I joined, but flaghunting was at its golden age at that time. My primary character name was (and still is) Orth.

First thing I did after undocking was "PLEASE DON'T KILL ME, I'M NEW!!!" on global chat - I laugh when I recall this. I found it quite hard to start with 0 credits - most games start you off with minimum amount of money to atleast start trading, but in vendetta, you needed to go from s2 (I was Serco) to s12 and kill some bots with your weak bus.

Most helpful person was UncleDave, who briefly taught me basics and gave me 50k credits - I bought a vult and boldly flew to s5, just to be killed by a bot. :)

Later, I learned how to "diss bots" during a flag cap and often helped out in Serco flag capturing sessions. I even remember pulling a beautiful two-man cap with someone (I don't remember who it was, but I _do_ remember that it was a well-known name back then, probably is until now :) ).

I never delivered the flag myself though. I specialized in "dissing bots", even later on, when they started to take damage as they bumped to each other while hunting you around the sector.

I dont even remember when I joined. It was sometime before year 2004 as far as I know. My first player name was Kyle Katarn (on the forums too.) Now known as Desann. All I remember is I talked to my dad once (Red Jester) and someone said "Kyle Katarn's Father is dead." well...nothing much else really, except I had a hard time making money back then. (Except I had a maurader later on.)

Desann I think you didn't start playing until around summer/fall 2003. After you got the G3.

I joined Vendetta sometime during 3.1.8, or winter break two years ago (I think).

Whoa, I've been here for two and a half years? o.O

I've only ever really been "thurisaz" and NT (except for a VERY short stint where I was also teiwaz [serco], and ohnwei [itani]), and joined in mid-Spring of 2003 (late 3.0 - early 3.1ish...) Like many others, I also found Vendetta through the series of articles on InsideMacGames. As far as early aid from other people, I've always been more of a solo player; but I remember Asp and Arolte leading us through many flag caps... And of course I remember Icarus, for his reign of pure terror :o

I gradually was on less and less over the following autumn, and uninstalled the game last September/October. I just recently freed up a few GBs of disk space, and had the idea to see what's changed here... I like a lot of the direction I see things moving in, and think I'll stay till release, at least.

I introduced a few friends to the game, but I believe only Pookie still plays

Saw the Vendetta test mentioned on Vega Strike discussion board and went looking. Shortly after as 'Minimus' found 'Uncledave' who showed me what a prom could do against my bus! Spent the next few weeks playing cat and mouse with "Uncledave" and generally running like hell.

People who helped me most:- Niki (20 mil when money flowed like water), JM262 ( general help and advice ) and [syn]n00b (for the target practice)

I might have to revive some of my old characters.........
