honeypots dont catch bears
so i dropped a whole bunch of cargo near a wormhole. i also put some lightning mines in the middle of it.
i was hoping to kill greedy pirates and so forth.
---
what should i see, after waiting and waiting, but one of the noted traders of the game jump in. i could have sworn she was flying thru. i move away to type something to someone.
next thing i know, i go back to 'zoom', and see her just
as she flies into the cargo and get zapped by several mines at once. ouch!
----
i took the mines to a pvp spot. unfortunately, many of the pirates were a bit too knowledgable to go up to the cargo. i did manage to fool one guy by dropping a bunch of 'premium xith', which i think he confused with 'purified xith' after i specifically told him to go look there.
but the other deaths i think were mostly accidental, on the part of low-armor ships accidentally flying into the danger zone.
------
what can i say. the technique has promise but it needs to be greatly refined. especially in terms of only killing people you want to kill, as right now it only kills the curious.

the trick is to dump the mines as you jettison the cargo in response to the pirates demands.
The problem with this is that the cargo no longer drops 1 unit per container, so you have to have 15 or 20 different types of cargo on your ship to have enough containers to hide the mines effectively.

It was a worthy effort Ananzi. Unfortunately I was able to see the mine in the cargo. Another problem is that a lot of people will turbo through and the mines won't kill them, especially if they're in a Prometheus.
It's actually a pretty good idea for protecting the mine too. Since it makes the mine unbelievably hard to target
We used to pull that stunt during Capture The Flag and so forth. Most of the vets have fallen for it once and have never forgotten.
Gah, I remember when red team made the uber-minefield in sector 2... That was painful... o.O
I used to draw these cool 3D thangs in S2 with mines.
I remember using cargo to scare off defbots. Does that still work?
Actually killing the mine isn't too hard if you have a gatling turret. Don't select anything and just pepper the area.
How did you manage to get so much Xith in one place anyway Ananzi? We were't away from B8 for very long.
