I used a bot crack to up my Itani standing. I'm now -960 (or something, I was -1000) Itani, next time I will do it the right way.

Botting is boring, but it wont always be, being a *crackhead didnt feel right, and because of the way *all* the bots in the sector line up to die (maybe because of they're fake communication problem) if maybe the two to three (to wing of) bots lined up to die it would not be so bad.

I actually dont mind having to spend a few days botting to reach high levels (see chewbaccaofborg, although you cant, he got, uhum, deleted), once you have reached them, whatever, but using this to get an alt up to spec is an exploit IMHO.

Now if this is part of some future planned stuff for traders hiding in storms ect, sweet, but right now it sucks, and i will attempt to shoot anyone I find in a crack.

Hehe, yeah I know your a pirate. I'll continue to use this exploit though because it is more exciting than regular botting. And there is a sense of community that goes with it as well, as there are often a few people in any given crack botting area at one time, calling bots, chatting, etc.

I think that it should be fixed yah, but I also think that the regular method of botting stinks. So its one or the other, boring but doing it the "right" way... or a tad bit more thrilling using the "exploit".

And yeah, I have no problem with you "charging" people to use the cracks! Thats what us pirates are for! Extorting the weak! It just sounded like you were going to shoot people based on the fact that you thought they were cheating.

Btw, I've never used the crack bot spot. All my chars' licenses are done the normal way, with many many many dead tycorps....damn it, I want revenge for all the crackbotters! (including you Gavan =P) [EDIT : It's like having a baby. You either go through a 12 hour labour process, or you have a caesarian...]

Besides, there is nothing more fun than seeing the panic in their eyes when you drop a lightning mine inside the crack....

i dunno, when i did crack botting, i would get shot and killed.
also, when blowing up the bots, i usually managed to kill about 3-4 at one time from the splash damage, but didnt get any credit for the splash-kills.

i found it faster to just kill them in open space.

It is an exploit, but it's damned fast. I guess ananzi didn't quite get the hang of it, but it's easy to kill 100 bots in a row without getting any damage using a crack. Hopefully this'll all be rectified sooner or later.

I don't feel bad for exploting exploiters for my own gain. (for the slow that means pay up when you see me or die :D )

Gee that title makes me want to tell those bots to just pull up their pants and get a belt. I don't need to be mooned by bot cracks in the evening.

crackbotting is more boring that regular botting, its just less work. If I see you crackbotting, I will kill you, and kill you with a smile.

You would need more large roids with cracks, and most of the bots would be inside there, Writing the AI ought to be more interesting if you design the AI to fight in the cracks ONLY.

It would make both botting and combat mining more interesting.

Heliocene might be found only in combat sectors with Arklans in the roids.

Furthermore, because of the "2-dimensionality" of the roids, protecting miners becomes much easier. (going to add this to suggestions too)

I recently had a few "fights" with crackroid botters and that was hilarious. Dislodging a rocket rag from there is no picnic and quite a change from usual combat :)

What about using cracked roids for a sort of king-of-the-hill challenge?

This is partly a guess, but I don't think that "crack-botting" is a coincedence, I think it was put there on purpose.

I mean, think about it... there are only a few sectors with cracked roids big enough for your ship, and ALL the bots are attracted to you, (Is there any other sectors where ALL the bots chase you?) and also, they rarely shoot at you. But isn't it also kinda weird that the bots don't come to you until you get into the roid? Then most of them leave once you come out?

It would be a pretty big coincedence if all this was an accident, wouldn't it?

maybe there is something hidden in those cracks, like an entrance to a hidden station :D

I don't think that crack botting is an exploit. I think that it is a handicap for us dumb traders to get some of the good toys too! :)

I've had bots come in the crack after me and as we bounced around together, I finally got chased out because they were too close to shoot and the rock was pounding my ship.

As far as getting blown up for doing it, well I've been blown up before and I'll be blown up again! As long as I get some XP out of it...I win. If the pirates are watching rocks, they're not watching trade runs! :)

dbr066, i think you underestimate how many of us pirates there are. we have enough people to cover crack botters and trade runs :)
