My "so far OT" thread

Err... if that was a flame, where's the fire?

Be Nice

The Vendetta message board is intended as a communications medium between the Vendetta userbase and Guild Software, Inc. Users are welcome to discuss general game-related topics, make suggestions, or voice constructive criticism about our products.

This area is meant to be a positive place for constructive discussion of the game. Flames and other rude behaviour will not be tolerated. Offenders may have their accounts deleted. If you have a suggestion about the game, we would love to hear it. If you disagree with someone, please keep it good-natured. Thanks.

1. My criticism was constructive. My suggestion actually makes things better for everyone:
_ The OT people get to be as OT as they want. Just not here.
_ The people who want to to discuss the GAME get to be heard -here-, where it counts most, and those who want to read about the game get to do so. It's not very difficult for an OT poster to go to starfreeze's site to participate in OTness. However, it IS difficult for someone who wants to discuss the game, where the devs may actually hear them, to do so amidst all the spam.
_ I would imagine the devs themselves must waste a LOT of time wading through the OTness in the legitimate forums. Or they're not reading the board as much - either is a serious concern.
_ People get to see a sharper distinction between OT and relevant discussion.
_ Posters get to post as much as they want. Just not necessarily -here-. Minor benefit I suppose would be that the bandwidth consumption and server load on Guildsoftware's servers is reduced.
_ The community forums thrive, those admins get to see all -their- hard work pay off. It's simple division of labor, and allows Guildsoftware to "give a nod" to those admins for bringing so much into the Vendetta community.
_ Heck, it's even good press for GS - when those links start to pile up the industry can see, easily, how popular the game is.

2. Please tell me how the Question thread has anything to do with gameplay. At least it's in the OT forum, unlike most of the OTness.

3. My post was NICE. It was also EMPHATIC. There were no insults made. The Icarus/Arolte thing was admittedly colorful, perhaps even crude but also accurate - my statement was a viable metaphor for what they've been doing in game and on these forums. My reference to them at all was only as an example of the rampant degredation of relevant conversation on this board.

On top of everything else, I played nice and posted these threads to the OT forum, even though I feel they are legitimate and constructive -suggestions- and would have been appropriate in that forum.

I've said what I needed to say, and I suppose you're welcome to lock this thread as well, but I'd appreciate it if you don't delete it.

Anyone who wants to respond to the other thread is welcome to go to the www.roguelazer.com or www.starfreeze.com forums to discuss. I'm not happy that that my concerns about -this- board have to be shunted off to somewhere else, but there's a certain irony in the situation that I can appreciate. :)

It was the Icarus / Arolte thing that made the the final decision. It was unnecessary and could propagate more of the kind of thing you were speaking against in one of the other 2 posts you created around the same time.

As you may have noticed, it was not deleted. Every attempt is being made to avoid completely censuring users. We've been trying a variety of approaches to help bring civility back to the forums and the game itself. Of late, asking users to edit their own posts has been going well (And thanks to all who have complied).

I thank you. However, why didn't you just ask -me- to edit what you found offensive? Honestly, I'd rather you'd removed the offensive part than locking the thread entirely.
