Opening Scene Voice Auditions!

Oct 16, 2005 Ghost link
As mentioned in the Opening Scene thread, I need four people with mics to help provide the voices for the pilots in the upcomming trailer.

For your auditions please record yourself saying the following lines:

"Been awful quiet around here lately"

(Chuckle)

"Target accquired. Move to attack formation."

"Death before dishonor"

"I'm on him!"

"Scratch one!"

"Watch your six!"

"Nice shot!"

"I can't shake him!"

(various whoops and battle cries)

Note: What I'm looking for here is your tone of voice as well as believability. Don't try to alter your voice at all to create character, use your normal speaking voice. People whose voices fit the profile of the characters I need will be notified and sent a copy of the script. They will then be expected to record all of their characters lines and e-mail them to me.

Send your recorded voice auditions to: epierce41@yahoo.com

Thanks!

Hehe. I'll do it tonight. Hopefully 'Dora the Explorer' will not come thru in the background...

And although I do not qualify as a "pilot of exceptional skill', if you need pilots I can do whatever you need. except I can't put on a SVG Vult or Prom...

Hope this works out all right here: http://media.putfile.com/a156

Uploading it to the net made it sound real bad, what format would you like it in and I'll send you the higher quality version in that format.

Well. Hem.

I guess we need some sort of context and timing hints for this to work out.

I mean, I dont have the video track but Borb's audition seems more like a commercial for prozac or valiums.

Not that he can do much about it given the sparse of info. But lack cinematographic direction would make any attempt at this sound somewhat funny. Aka, "More Intense! (TM)" (with apologies to Lucas).

And, do you strickly need voice actors or do you actually need cockpit sounds in the background of those voices?

Or do you want a bunch of disparate sounds wich you'll overlay yourself?

We need precise timing information for every sentence and some direction on the tone to be used. Aka, "I'm on him" could sound very casual(/sleepy) as in Borb's essay, or panicky as in Luke's approach of the Death Star.

I am aware of that mouser, but these are just auditions, not the actual things I need recorded for the film. I'm not looking for proper inflection or timing here, I just want to hear your tone of voice and see how it fits with the characters I'm writing. For all it matters to me you can just record yourself talking for a bit if you like. The timing and inflection will come afterwards once I've selected the people whose voice matches what I'm looking for. Then they will be given a script as well as storyboard with more info.

Well, oky then. But an "audition" without voice personifications might still pose a challenge. One might have a nice voice but totally suck at conveying emotions.

Anyhow. I can supply a deep mature voice. Deeper and rough if taken in morning. Light accent, but not quite recognizable. I can exaggerate a french (canadian) accent if needed. Interested?

"Why do think we have this OOOOUTRAGEOUS accent, you silly king?!?"
Hehe. Sorry Mogul.

Forgot to do my voices, was busy with two projects last night. Well 3 actually if you count using Vendetta-Online as a graphics-intensive chat engine.

I'll try again tonight & upload 'em.

I need a mic, i used the built-in mic on the iMac because my old one that I barely use is crapola apparently. I'll borrow one if you need me to actually DO anything.

(Bonus track material included.)

I have a friend who might want to do it. He's a fan of combat games, so he might be useful.

I'll see what I can do. I'll probably have something for you by Saturday.

Eh!

First try, first pass. If it's just a voice sample you want, that's it. Couldn't help it and added "some" intonation in voices. Sorry.

And, unlike LeberMac, I've not used my (natural) french accent (eh!). :-)

EDIT: Damn bird in the background makes it sound like I'm a pie-rat!

Alright, sounds good. I must reiterate though, I need e-mail addresses from all who posted voice auditions on the forums.

Please e-mail me at epierce41@yahoo.com or just post your e-mail address here asap.

Thanks!

Thanks to all who auditioned! We now have the six people we need for voice overs! The actors have been notified by e-mail. For those who didn't get an e-mail, it's nothing personal, I was just looking for certain voice tones to fit characters. Casting was not based on how well the auditions were spoken, just on what your voice sounds like.

Thanks all!

who won?
Oct 21, 2005 Ghost link
Hehe, well its not really who won or lost, but who's natural voice suited the characters the best.

Voice cast is as follows:

Borb
Nerde Verde
Mogul Velaio
Morgan West
Lebermac

Still need people to actually fly in the film though, the actual pilots don't need to be the same as the person doing the voice. Filming begins mid-late december.
