Linux + Crashing

May 24, 2003 Targoyt link
Vendetta has continually crashed on me. I'm running Red Hat 8, totally up to date inclding the newest stable Nvidia drivers. Kernel 2.4.20.x. The first time it crashed was when a certain player killed me. During the explosion animation, my computer locked up and froze. Later that day, I hopped on Vendetta again. This time i had xmms and a couple of other apps running. Again, Vendetta crashed. I was working on setting up my weapon groups at the time. Next, I had no applications running, and i ran Vendetta again. It crashed. Is this a problem with my settings or computer? Or is it Vendetta not liking my software or just not workin' right?

Did the bug reporter app show up when Vendetta crashed? If so, please submit a bug through that because there is additional information in that report.

No, my computer completly froze up. Not just vendetta, but everything. So no, the bug reporter did not show up.

Hmm, try using less recent nvidia drivers, I guess.
Andy has a geforce4 card in linux and isn't having any problems. He is using gentoo though, but he was using redhat8 with no problems. I'm not sure what nvidia drivers he's using.

No respose from the Alt+SysRq keys either?

I agree with raybondo, try and get a hold of the 3123 drivers, they're a little slower but quite stable.

I had this problem with the 41xx drivers too, im still running with a screwed text console after SysRq'ing out of x and screwing the gfx card... =) I think its more to do with the nvidia drivers than vendetta to be honest.
