With the new updates and especilly this afternoon, Ive had to play with a 500ms + ping on my dialup. Not sure why the unusual lag. but others are noticing it as well.

LAG....or WHAT??

Just a few minutes ago, I lost over 8000 points, an equal amount of money and about 60 or 70 cargo that I had collected. This is not the largest amount I have lost because of this situation. It's been happening all too frequently of late, and
brings up the question: When does the game save a players score, etc?? Will it be required that we each quit the game and re-log in every 5 minutes or so to insure that we don't lose our shirts all the time?

The game saves at every logoff and every warp. I lost 20000c and 6 cargo.

I transferred money to another player. Game seemd to remember that my money was gone, but the person I transferred to lost it. Game used to save when you landed at station. Is that a permanent change because I lost over 300k credits tonight.

The game never saved when you land at a station. It should though. It only saves when you change sectors or log out.
If the server crashes you lose whatever changed since you warped into the sector or logged in whichever happened most recently.

cool ray tnx,

If we can keep on topic, maybe someone knows why the lag is happening? Other users noticing a saturated link? Or is it to do with the connection to the server?

Whoa.. ah, game only saves when you logout?...

Doesnt that mean someone could log in. Transfer their 5 billion credits to someone, let that person log out. Then yank their internet connection. Kill vendetta. Log back in and stiff have 5 billion credits?

Probably. Now go edit that out before someone reads it and doubles their money. Someone like me...

If the server loses your connection, you drift for 1 minute then get logged off.

The only way to double your money that way is to wait for a server crash, in theory one must happen adventually, but a server restart might come before that.
Server restarts were made more intelligent, right?

If you yank your connection, you will eventually timeout on the server which logs you off properly. If you reconnect before it times you out then it logs you off properly and then logs you back on right away.

server restarts should properly kick everyone off and save their info now.
