missions (sorry, probably just me)

yea. especially if you were botting in s18, which is stressful.

can't say I'm glad that you reproduced the bug I have, but since I can't do it myself...

having my cargo value = 0 happened so often that I didn't even file a bug report for it; I just log. ack

What are the adv. combat missions *supposed to be like?
some just have to kill drone II's over and over again, while others hop all over trying to find a sentry, recon, drone. is this a bug?
after figuring that I can't complete the combat missions, I went to 17 to bot (because the bots give more xp). I accrued enough XP to level up in one of the weapons fields, so I warped out of 17 into 11. instead of appear in sector 11, I appeared in the sector 11 station, with all of my cargo as 'priceless' (this has happened to others before, but I couldn't reproduce it again. no idea what made it happen). I logged off and on, only to find that my stats reset to before I was botting hours ago.

now at 'bout 2000 bots (most of these are from 17 and 18), and still unable to get to level 7 ... lol it's crazy I know(~I've killed more than any other person ingame! scary)

is there something that can fix my stats?

Hi,
i know i am drifting a bit off harvestmouse's topic but there are some other things I wonder about thinking about missions.
I liked the system of the old beginner training mission very much. As long as you don't abort the mission your bonus increased with every 5 bots you killed.
The advanced mission gets you exactly the same reward at the 202th bot killed as at the 6th or 7th or whatever it is.
I think some mix of these systems would be great. Each 4 (or 2) levels plus you got to get a more advanced mission but in this time your bonus increases with every reward.
It then may not take 300 bots anymore for combat 6 -> combat 7 which is quite frustrating.

bye, amq

I guess I should have named this thread properly.

is the mission system supposed to consist of botting a variety of npcs?

has anyone had the strange bug that sends you directly to a station when you expected to warp?

or has anyone experienced a reset in xp?

I've both been warped to a station where I haven't meant to go and had an xp reset, but I have no clue what triggered it :/

One of my advanced missions was to kill drone II bots and sentry bots. I think it happens at level 6 or 7 combat. Anyway, it asks you to destroy a certain number of bots as usual... but every once in a while it would change so that you'd have to travel into s11 and destroy a sentry bot. And after you destroy a sentry bot or two it would ask you to find and kill a drone II bot. It tells you what bot you need to kill next, in other words. This had to be by far one of the most annoying combat missions I've ever had. The time it takes to travel back and forth to find these bots is not worth the bonus that's given.

Luckily after ending one round of that mission (got tired of it), I was given another one where all you had to do was kill drone II bots. And yes, at the same combat level as the previous hellish mission. Even with the drone II bots being spaced out and playing chicken, that mission was much easier and more valuable than the one where you had to look for sentry bots. If combat missions with a combination of different bots is planned, I'd like to offer a few suggestions to make 'em more bearable. Either...

a) Keep all the bots that you need to kill in the same sector.
b) Add more of that type of bot to other sectors to make 'em easily accessible.
c) Make the reward higher so the time you wasted looking for those bots and traveling to each sector is justified.

Woah, wrong thread Arolte?

Anyway, I'll keep an eye on verbose 6 and send a bug report whenever I manage to reproduce this. It's really annoying lose lose all the xp you spent the last few hours botting for :/

Wrong thread? This is about sentry/drone II botting, right?

/me scratches his head in confusion

Nope, hours upon hours of defneder and assault II botting :P
May 03, 2004 harvestmouse link
actually, Arolte, your post is relevant as well. I just found out that the adv. combat missions DO make you run around looking for bots, and it's not just a bug.

(I only started hours and hours of defender and assault botting because I had too much difficulty completing the adv. combat missions. Defender and Assault II/III bots are more aggressive and yield more xp points, though you don't get the nice bonus.)
