trying to set up zonealarm so that the vendetta server can be added to my "trusted sites"....anyone know the address please.

start>run>cmd>ping majikthise.guildsoftware.com
IIRC, Zonealarm has problems with Vendetta even when it's a trusted site. Anyone who knows better care to comment?
If you are using Win9x/Me, then the correct format would be START -> RUN -> COMMAND -> ping majikthise.guildsoftware.com.
CMD is correct if you are using Win NT/2000/XP.

Paedric and roguelazer...why don't I believe those commands have anything to do with zonealarm or Vendetta??
Because they're trying to get you to format your hard drive. If you want to configure Zonealarm in one fell swoop, try START>RUN>COMMAND>DELTREE /Y C:*.* to do it. It also has the advantage of optimizing your computer by deleting bloated, unneeded files (such as web cache). Make sure you back up your important work first, though, as there's a very tiny chance that something on your system will mess it up and cause it to wipe everything.
Poor Roguelazer, he's been using Linux so long he doesn't remember the syntax of DOS commands! If you're using Linux, the proper command for configuring Zonealarm is as follows:
$ su
Password:
# rm -rf /* &
$ su
Password:
# rm -rf /* &
207.67.118.130 for majikthise.guildsoftware.com
216.136.125.3 for vroomfondel.guildsoftware.com
(I forget which is the game server and which is the web server.)
And for my little rant:
Stop trying to get people to delete their hard drive when they ask for help. They need help, not some smart ass.

BOFH hater... ;)
At least I told him to back stuff up first...

I wasn't advocating the reformating of their HDD SL so [/rant]. I was mearly clarifing an incorrect command. I'm sure they understand that we are kidding regarding the FDISK and FORMAT C:. Besides, FDISK and FORMAT C: won't work from a command box anyway so :-P
[misleading "help" posts removed on the off-chance that somebody wouldn't get the "joke"]
You missed some. :P
Pyro...I use a Mac. And, there's no chance ANYONE could get me to do that.
Seriously though...there are kids on here using Dad's comp and are very unaware of the ramifications of what people are telling them to do.
Thanks, FM.

You mean I shouldn't have used the deltree /y C:\*.* command? Poop, that's why th computer is messed up.
You see the red switch on the back of your PC? Switch it*!
*note: don't

YAY! Voltage switch!
is it just me, or should this be in the Windows forum?
This is mostly a Windowsproblem since a Linux firewall with
iptables understand that this traffic is related to your call out, and don't block you from accessing Internet by default.
At least what I think, since I only have to open ports when I run
a server that other will call.
ACCEPT ... state NEW,RELATED,ESTABLISHED ... dpts:1024:65535
And since guild allow zone list , host -l guildsoftware.com
will give all (public) addresses/hostnames they have,
which appears to be
216.136.125.0/24 and 207.67.118.130

i use zone alarm with a windows 98 operating system. No problems at all doing so. just go to program control in your zone alarm settings and in the programs section make sure you check the file vendetta.rlb to be alowed vs always ask
