Caps Lock - New bug?

Jun 27, 2004 ctishman link
There's always been one bug or another regarding the use of the caps lock key. In 3.5.1, however, it seems to stick down whatever other keys were pressed when Caps Lock was hit, a situation not unlike the "sticky rotate" bug of yore. As it is, this bug's cost me a ship, a mission and a good deal of experience. Fixy pweeze?

I've actually been experiencing this for some time now. I thought it was more of a feature than a bug. I always used it to stick my turbo key when I'd want to type something long simultaneously.

It's not a bug really.
Let's say you have "t" bound to "+turbo" and "T" to "+accelerate"
When you hit "t" your computer tells Vendetta that and you start turboing. If you then hit capslock and release the 't' key your computer will tell vendetta that you've released "T" which is not the same as "t" therefore "+accelerate 0" will be called instead of "+turbo 0". There's really no way around this other than for you to bind all your capital letters to the same thing as their lowercases... or simply don't hit capslock.

I wish there'd be a way to disable it though, as sometimes all hell breaks loose when the caps lock key is accidentally depressed.

yeah, i've done this many many times now, by total accident, unfortunately i have a really strange keyboard (one of these tiny ones) and big, clumsy hands. Still, a way of ignoring the capslock key would be nice.

You should do like Eldrad says and bind your keys to cap and small letters. Well not all of them, I'd suggest just the nav and weapons keys. Many people do this as it totally saves your butt from smacking caps lock in the middle of a dog fight, and then just floating there for a sec and getting wasted.

Although I have noticed a lot of players will totally miss you if you mysteriously stop dodging all of a sudden and drift in a straight line. It has to be mysterious or it doesn't work though.

And like Arolte said it can be useful if you want to turn a 2 part key on and not off (like rotate or turbo) without making a bind for it.
