*Evil Laugh* Easy way to take out busses...

Jul 24, 2004 Celkan link
... but trust me, it's no easy task... evoli and I tested this in a pair of 88's outside Odia M14.

Recipe for Disaster
1 Bus
1 Ship, any type
Location 3km from any large object.

The Bus and other ship (which was a bus when I tested this with evoli) move out to jumpable distance. the "other ship" aims his ship dead on at the bus and warps to any sector. Zip! Wham! BOOM! Bye Bye Bus!

this COULD potentially be used in battle, but it would be a very tricky technique, requiring a key that is bound to the "jump" command or whatever it is called.

Yeah, the funny thing is, we testers have a habit of wanting to run into things as we warp out. Back in the 9-sector universe, players used to boost through the wormhole to 9 in sector 5, which had tons of rocks around it. The game being, of course, to hit the rocks as hard and as fast as possible. This became impossible with the restriction of a full battery for warp.

Then, with the advent of the Eff/Fast combo, the practice started up again. Ramming into bots was choice, now.

Now with the insystem jumping resembling 3.0.x warping, it's even easier to do this. And now that you shoot off at Unreal Engine speeds (probably closer to warp-bug speeds), it makes it all the more fun to run into things.

Before I decided to try it on evoli, I was messing around with FiReMaGe's vulture, doing the same thing to his ship. his was going flying, but no damage was being taken (i was playing on my itani character). So I head back to Odia M14 and recruit young, unsuspecting evoli. I ask her to buy a bus and meet me out in deep space.

I do the same (buying a bus) and meet her out there. We aim our ships nose to nose, and I back up a good 300 meters. Evoli was to go back to the station and report how much damage she took. I jumped. She didn't get that far. Needless to say I have one unintentional Serco PK on my record. And dangnabbit, it was when my ship was under server control, too! :P Sorry evoli.

yup, ramming fun... but soo bad the practice of rammin roids wont return using this technique, tho it would have been more fun, but i doubt you go 3000m during the jump graphics so, yea no roid or station rammin... >:D me had the idea of waiting outside a station and rammin into a port at warp speed(actually has a meaning now with this new graphics) at someone coming out... well i suppose my evil side will never see the light of day.. :(

This leads to the question whether the invulnerability is necessary anymore when warping. Since you're traveling so fast your enemy won't be able to hit you easily. So perhaps it would be wise to take invulnerability off when warping so people can't get ram kills, or at least they should be penalized for doing stupid things like roid ramming.
