A Storm "Issue"

Jul 28, 2004 RattMann link
It just happened to me....

Fired up the game, was in the station, picked a mission and headed out.
Boosted out to 3000m, but could not jump to another sector. Turned around,
boosted part way to station, turned again, jetted out to 3000m, still could not
jump. Docked, quit out of the game, and started up again. Left the station,
boosted out, noticed the distance counter was a red "0." Sure enough, there
was the "storm exit." I do not know why the game displayed the green "3000"
the first time, and that may be a bug. However, shouldn't there be some sort
of "storm-tossed" animation/effect when you leave a station that's in a storm?

[Edit] OOops. This happened in Ukari G-6.

RattMann, this is not a bug. When you're in a storm sector, you can't jump until you make it to the "storm exit point." Your distance counter will always display 0m until you make it to the exit, at which point it will display 3000m. Blame it on electrical interference ;).

Well, yes it is a bug. Seems the storm entered that sector while he was boosting to 3000m and when he got there, the storm prevented him from jumping but didn't show any indication that it was there until he logged out/in.

Um, if you're saying that you couldn't use the activate key to leave the storm, that's because you need to open the nav window (defaulted to 'n') to warp out.

What I'm saying is that if you find yourself in a station in a sector that is having
a storm, there is no indication of it unless you are pointed in the direction of the
"Storm Exit Jump Point" by chance.

When you fly into a sector that is stormy, you see the "storm-tossed" animation,
and know what is happening. I'm saying that there should be something similar
for leaving a station as described above.

The storm exit points thingies are clearly marked on your radar as a green plus. The red "0 meters" indicator is also a good clue.

I think the bug here is that the sector you were in became a storm sector while you were in it, and your client didn't update to reflect it as being such.
