Seekers are Still not fixe

Oct 19, 2004 Spider link
*prod prod prod* on a1

The seekers have become the de-facto weapon of both pirating, and convoy "protection" (yeah ha ha ha...)

A tip, take out a prom and try to "dodge" them *cough*
Oct 19, 2004 Renegade ++RIP++ link
prom should not be able to dodge them...

everything above the agility of a bus - hornet should have a chance, everything above warthog should have a good chance.

Avoiding them is another matter.

but rene: so a warthog loaded with seekers should best a prom no matter what?
what's more: the warthog can fire and run, while the prom has no chance of overtaking it.

Spider, this is not a bug. You shouldn't be cluttering the bug forums with posts like this just to get more attention. Post something like this in suggestions.

Phaserlight, this is a bug. The missiles are working in a way different from that intended.

Quoth a1k0n:
"Also, the change I made threw off the "balance" of homing missiles, such as they are, since they tend to turn faster now (even though they stay within the same turning rate limit) so we'll probably need to adjust tracking rates and crap."

It's a bug. It hasn't been fixed. It breaks the game. It belongs here.

May we all benefit from the pursuit of knowledge and bugless-ness that can only be obtained through a full shedding of our antagonistic and prickly ways.

May those who seek the perfect Balance from their game understand the concepts of Time and Money**.

May those who seek Balance also understand there is no such thing as long as there exists more than one player.

May we all understand these fundamentals, and strive to make this Beta the true Final Product it was Meant To Be. </Oernon>

"Knowledge is Power", "Time is Money", and as every engineer knows, "Power is Work over Time". So, substituting algebraic equations for these time worn bits of wisdom, we get:

   K = P (1)
   T = M (2)
   P = W/T (3)

Now, do a few simple substitutions:

Put W/T in for P in equation (1), which yields: K = W/T (4)
Put M in for T into equation (4), which yields: K = W/M (5).

Now we've got something. Expanding back into English, we get: Knowledge equals Work over Money.

What this means is that:
   1. The More You Know, the More Work You Do.
   2. The More You Know, the Less Money You Make.

Solving for Money, we get: M = W/K (6)
==>Money equals Work Over Knowledge.

From equation (6) we see that Money approaches infinity as Knowledge approaches 0, regardless of the Work done.

What this means is: The More you Make, the Less you Know.

Solving for Work, we get W = M K (7)
==>Work equals Money times Knowledge

From equation (7) we see that Work approaches 0 as Knowledge approaches 0.

What this means is: The stupid rich do little or no work.

Working out the socioeconomic implications of this breakthrough is left as an exercise for the reader.

Which of course excludes the rich who got that way through working their asses off...

Back on topic, though - can a dev post what they intend for seeker balance? Apparently the pre 1.0.8 levels were unacceptable, but as the contentious uproar on the forums indicates the new situation is less than perfect.
