If you attack a Dentek collector while it's scanning, it will turn to attack you. The scanner stays on, so it starts scanning your ship and firing... I'm not sure if this is a bug or a feature, as it is sort of annoying but could be explained by the bot trying to scan you for cargo.

On the other hand, the bots won't scan you if oyu just attack them in open space, so I'm guessing it's a bug.

I think it's a bug, the bot forgets to turn the graphic for the scanner off.

I think all collectors should scan their targets at least one time before opening fire... they are collector bots after all... aren't they looking for ore?

If you don't have ore in your hold, they break off the attack unless you attack them again, OR you attack the transport they are escorting.

If you have ore in your hold when they scan you, then they attack whether or not you fired a shot.

Actually... I know it'd probably be hell to implement, but Borg-like bots would be awesome. Perhaps they'd fire some sort of weapon that damages the player, but leaves the ship intact? Or something... Maybe they'd just try to breach your hull, not blow your ship up.
