No end in sight...

Nov 14, 2004 Spider link
I've been trying to stay awake to see the cargo round end, and it seems its not ending in the same time anymore.

What's the status on this? last I checked it ended early in the sunday morning. not so anymore?

The status is that the round only ends once, and forgets to restart its end-of-week timer. Great.

I'll see if I can force it to end.
Nov 14, 2004 a1k0n link
Okay, I was able to do force the end.

But: the website doesn't show the Itani handicap of 764 crates to their credit.

isnt that handicap a bit on the high side?

i can see a small advantage for the loosing side, but +764? thats a bit excessive
Nov 14, 2004 a1k0n link
That's how many they lost by. After taking the previous handicap into account. Or something.

so, for each week we win, they get an even larger handicap up until they win by default?

*Mutter Mutter Mutter*

Tell again, why are we even bothering when the default is to leave it alone and have it all won every week?

well, thats okay from a balance perspective, since it prevents some nation from completely dominating the other no matter what. I should probably be glad, as representative of the underdog nation with the worse layout..

Spider, you guys have won consistently since its inception. You are NOT the underdogs.

celkan, we have won because the itani arent trying very hard. There are 8 or 9 of us serco that devote a large % of playtime to the convoys.

We have the fewest players on 90% of the time. (UIT has by far the most, usually half of the online players, Itani usually has about 30% and serco 20% from what i've seen anyhow.)

Incidentally, as to the handicap. maybe get rid of it until you make the cargo rounds count. Since both sides still have access to the N3 its not like theres any danger of one side dominating.

For instance, Celkan, the last time I played (and I played far less frequently than Lin, Spellcast, Spider, and yodaofborg), there were 8 out of I believe 15 Serco, attacking and defending transports, while there were really only about 4 out 24 Itani attacking and defending. If that was consistant for all of Saturday (I was only able to get on Saturday morning), then I can see how the Serco managed to pull a win.

Imagine if that same ratio of Itani were participating. 14 out of 24 Itani would be able to wipe out the 8 out of 15 Serco relatively easily. Even if two or three UIT came to Serco's help, the odds wouldn't change all that much, because three or four UIT would be helping the Itani at the same time.

bug forum isn't the place for Serco/Itani bickering.

Spellcast, Itani are trying very hard, we won out the first 5 days of the week by a good margin while constantly being out numbered by CTC players.

CrippledPidgeon, newbs who don't care about CTC don't matter, and wouldn't be able to effect it much any ways if they did (or when they do). Ya it's annoying to kill someone who makes you lose 800 XP but it's not really tide turning in a battle.

"so, for each week we win, they get an even larger handicap up until they win by default?"

It's not cumulative. You won by that many crates -this round-.

Celkan: underdog status doesn't rely on whether a nation has won or not; it has more to do with the circumstances under which they are competing.
Serco won despite number of active players because serco put up a lot more effort, and general itani apathy didn't help the itani cause much (though Eldrad and Niki put up good competition from what I heard)
Number of new players itani has -does- matter. Seriously, they won't stay n00bs forever, will they? When they're veterans... *sigh
*sits around to see what will happen when CTC does work properly :)

a1: thanks for clarifying.
