Separation of Space and combat

This thread is in the vein of the "Dynamic Octrees" discussion.

Will it be possible to have changing physics fields? For example, when a fighter is flying around in some carrier's big-ass docking bay, as far as the pilot of the fighter is concerned, the ship is stationary, whether the carrier itself be turning or hyperjumping or whatever. This has uses not only in carriers (not plastering the entire defensive wing to the back wall of the fighter bay) but also a possibility for separating fighter combat from the capital ship level.

It could be that while fighter weapons did absolutely jack to capital ships, it would be possible for fighters to damage or disable certain components, such as shield generators to make the ship more vulnerable to capital-level assaults, or disabling hyper-engines to prevent the target from fleeing. How this ties into the docking bay idea is as follows: Remember that superstructure chase through the Death Star in Return of the Jedi? Imagine that the only way a fighter could kill a capital ship would be to sneak in through the ducting, take down some shielding and armor, and blow the central reactor?

Ooo! And maybe we testers can have a respawning death star in our own little sector (we get that, RIGHT? :P) that we can fly around in and blow up! :P Problem is, you fly out, hang a right, and SPLAT into the hull you go...
