Keys we need!!! (and dont..) and some other stuff...

Keys:

Needs:

Move the radar toggles. Maybe an option in the options menu for what you want showing, cause i've never honestly seen a need to turn any of mine off.

Target flag. It would be nice.

Get rid of:

The target powerups. Why do we need to lock onto powerups??
------------------------------------------------------------------

Other stuff:

Bots and humans are different colors on the radar

A "nearest projectile" display. This would be really, really nice. It could go right between the chat and the ship display, but under the target display. Maybe have a little pic of the rocket/homer/seeker with the distance below it.

Lock on warning. very, very usefull. But it wouldn't say who has you locked on.. Maybe this could be an item you buy.

That's my 2¢. more to come. maybe.

Flags should be like rabbits, stick two of them in the same area for a couple minutes and you will have 2 more, so by the time you get from s3 to s1 you will have a lot of flags!

Mmmm imagine the money your nation could make for returning 200 flags, ummm not much, like 100k, nothing comparaied to capturing 400 flags, umm like, 1600k for just you and 800k for whole nation... money won't be a problem any more!

Hmmm... I noticed that a lot of the objects on the radar aren't truly representative of what they actually are in front of you. For example go up to the station in sector 5. Point your ship towards the station with an overhead view. You'll notice that instead of seeing a single dot or a shape that looks like the station on your radar, you'll see a series of dots that (when connected) make up the general outline of the station. Each one of these dots represent each of the segment models that make up the whole station. But wouldn't it be nice to have one single big dot on your radar that roughly represents the general size of the station instead? Heck, I don't think any dots are even necessary, considering how there's already a big fat "S" to show that there's a station there.

Anyway, I think radar clutter would be reduced greatly if the dots on the radar would have different sizes to represent the different sizes of asteroids and objects, instead of having a series of dots making up one asteroid (probably because some big asteroids are actually composed of more than one model). Unfortunately (for now) it looks like the radar only uses a single small dot for every single model in a sector, and the size doesn't even change with distance. So there'll definitely need to be some additional coding required in terms of getting a feeling of depth and proportional sizes. But it might be something for the devs to consider when trying to reduce clutter without resorting to switching off certain entities within the radar.

AND a bonus not-so-realistic suggestion: Make everything around you cel-shaded within the radar, but really really really small. In other words the radar could be a secondary view that works like the current one, but each actual dot turns into a cel-shaded view of whatever that dot represents in front of you (or behind you). So basically the same area covered for the front and back radars would be rendered in a cel-shaded view, but really really really small within the radars. That way you'll not only be able to tell the general size and distance of an object, but also its orientation. And this method would actually allow players to truly hide behind asteroids without requiring the use of any type of sonar code. Unfortunately I think having a secondary renderer like this would be quite an FPS hit.

The "target powerup" hotkey was for pre-3.0 days when you spawned with a base ship and the only weapons you got were picked up in little floating packages. It probably should be done away with, as dying characters only spawn cargo, not weapons.
