Station cargo storage restriction

Jan 28, 2007 Antz link
It is a known upcoming change to restrict the amount of cargo that can be stored in a station by a player. The devs also do not want to allow players that are in a guild to do anything that is not doable by a single player.

Would a slider in a station that allowed some of the CU of their cargo space to be allocated for use by their guild be acceptable then? The total amount of cargo stored would then still be the same as the total of members combined, just they would be able to share it more efficiently.

Hmm. I think ( hope too ) that you get a small amount of cargo space for free, and any more after that cost money. So you can buy extra cargo space to share with your guild as well as giving away the space that you get for free.

Approved!

i suggest that the cargo restrictions not only be regarding size of cargo but length of time that cargo sits.

as to not piss off the players that mainly trade, simply by telling them that their initial cargo shipment will be stored for free, but for every 100cu above this there will be a 75c charge per day in a pop up, or on the welcome screen of the station.

each faction can charge whatever they need to. it adds to the economy of the game.

that way i know in advance that the longer it takes me to get my stockpiling-bulk order done, the more it will cost me in the end.

like the week that i made runs through verasi-jallik with med.batts. i had stockpiled over 1200 batteries in that one station. if i had a time constraint, that would have been a much smaller job.

1200 x 3cu = 3600cu - 40cu (first shipment) = 3560cu x 75c = 267,000c (minimum) loss. compound that over the 7 days and the number skyrockets. (which i have no idea how many batteries i had at the station on day three, four, five... so i'll leave it at that)

mind you, the profit on those batts were over 4000 each so i would still have made some money.

now, as for those people who have forgotten about a screamer/lawgun in odia somewhere, the initial shipments would be free... no matter the size.

I think there should be station A.I., and the total amount of space available in a station should be based upon what the station thinks it's necessary to have. Popular stations would have more space. Unpopular stations would have tiny holds. When storage becomes scarce, prices for storage go up. When storage is easy to come by, proces for storage go down.

The Station AI should adjust the price accordingly.

But, I think this kind of control will have to wait until we have a dynamic economy.
