Really Minor Cargo Rebalancing Request

Right now, nation widgets are useless. If I steal some red widgets, they're worth next to nothing, even in sector 1. This is bad. They should be worth IMMENSE amounts of cash. This encourages two things. Firstly, when [if] smuggling is implimented, it becomes highly profitable without having to introduce Narcotics/etc into vendetta. Secondly, it encourages cross-team-assistance. If me and a red get together to exchange widgets, we both become rich and possibly friends. Sounds like a good trade to me. Anyhow, I say thay nation widgets from another nation should be worth 6-12kc per widget in your homesector.

Just something that bothers me, and my 2c about it...

Ya i think this is a good idea. Having other nations widgets is like having secret and new technology brought into your home sector. This should make them really expensive. I hope they do use this.

Coolness. Put my vote up also But wait... I just had a thought.

Couldn't this be exploitable? Have a teammate log on as another nation player and buy a bus full of nation widgets. Then let your teammate kill you to get that huge profit. Repeat the other way around. It would be a quick way of getting money.

Of course if everyone's account was limited to one nation only there wouldn't be this problem.

=/

I like this idea, but it would nearly necessitate either 1 char per account or one nation per account (as Arolte pointed out).

On the completely off-topic note of Celkan, that's very true. Plus, it'd change pirating. No more pirates that kill. Instead, you take the enemy to really low health and demand that they jettison cargo. Mmmm...

I want to turn off the dropping of cargo when one is killed. How realistic is that? When a ship such as a Centaur or Marauder is destroyed, it more likely that the cargo will mew incinerated along with the ship than it will be ejected with the expanding ball of gas and debris! At least consider this, as it would stop the pirating! Keep the jettison command, but please get rid of the drop.

No, the cargo shouldn't be destroyed. See the healthy green glow around the boxes? thier made of pure plutonium. Radioactive. So they don't go poof.

I don't think this would be too exploitable. A bus would take forever to get to 8-5 or 7-10. You'd be better off trading 15-14 or 14-18. That and it's very vulnerable.

Colored widgets used to be very expensive in opposing home systems. My old character would go to the old s7 and trade red for blue widgets, it let me get decent stuff. Wigets should be profitable but not 6-12k thats too much, how about 3-6k?

I see a compromise here... give cargo a chance of surviving when the ship is destroyed. Have the % chance dependent upon the hull of the ship at death. Meaning if you are "gracefully" lowered to 0 hull, each widget has a 80% chance to survive. However, if you are blasted with 3 volleys of quad sunflares, and you hull gets raped to -5000, each widget only has a 10% chance of survival.

And of course if you reduce the ship to 10% hull you could always just ask for them to /jettison.

This would encourage pirates to use more finesse -- shoot the person down a bit, and back off when you see smoke & fire. It would also remove some of the greed for a "god weapon", as it would increase the chance of over-killing your prey and ruining the cargo. You'd make more profit if you had an accurate, lower-damage weapon and the skill to use it well.

The compromise is for each individual cargo right? so each cargo has a 80-0% chance of surviving, allowing for in a Marauder's death, anywhere from 0 to all 16 of the cargo to survive, making pirating less fruitful.

Ooo... I like that idea... The ability to disable (their systems would repair after time) and board ships to take their cargo (or even outfits! *drool*) would be really cool, too...
