a list of improvements

these are things i think would make this game more fun.

there should be more ships which are also larger and longer.
lots of larger ships would increase the usees for money at higher levels.

guided missles.(nuke?)

asteroid feilds need to act more like asteroid feilds, ie move around, colide with one another, asteroids break, thats sort of thing.

if your not going to have actualy planets you can visit at least make thekm apear to move as you move around.

change the numbering for distance or make sectors much much larger.

add in skills(eventualy) which one can get better at such as minning, trading(can get better prices higher the skill goes), maybe think of some way to work out some sort of skills for space flight contol.

npc convoys

make it easyer to send messages(like a button)

find a way so that you can actualy bribe off npc's not to kill you...(or make them pay you to leave them alone)

have fuel base and sheilding that can be bought.
more custimizable ships.
adding diffrent weapons should change what the ship looks like.

make a npc nation or many npc nations....

maybe expand the game into morew than just humans, or have the humanss be able to change into somehting no human(like a cyborg or mutation)

i was thinking you could make the stations have there own interior which you can walk around in and such, with custimizable charcter forms and the like.

players should drop scrap.

these are just a few ideas iv had. thanks for your time.

"there should be more ships which are also larger and longer.
lots of larger ships would increase the usees for money at higher levels."

I think there is general agreement in that. However, you must understand that this project is being undertaken by a very small company which at present simple doesn't have the artist resources to lay out an entire game visually all at once. Rather, new ships and features are being added all the time according to a organic evolution, and you have to be patient.

"guided missles.(nuke?)"

There are already guided missiles. There is already a weapon, the Avalon, which acts much like a 'nuke' - at least as much like a nuke as could contribute to gameplay.

"asteroid feilds need to act more like asteroid feilds, ie move around, colide with one another, asteroids break, thats sort of thing."

One thing you have to keep in mind is that this is a persistant multiplayer game. This adds certain constraints not present in a single player game. Asteroids that move would simply keep moving and pretty soon would be 100's of km away from anyone. Asteroids that broke, or any other kind of morphable terrain, would force the game server to update each client with all the changes in the sector. This would create an unacceptable ammount of lag and hinder gameplay. Also, what would happen to all the asteroids once they were broken apart? We'd have no more asteroids.

"if your not going to have actualy planets you can visit at least make thekm apear to move as you move around."

If you will look closely at them you will see that they rotate. Beyond that, you need to consider the matter of scale. A planet, even a small one, has a diameter in the range of 1,000,000 meters. At velocities which are slow enough that human reflexes can control the vehical, distances like 1,000,000 meters are simply to great to bother with. Not to mention you have serious problems with textures as you so greatly change the scale of something.

"change the numbering for distance or make sectors much much larger."

Sectors are already 10,000's of km across. The useful portion of a sector is quite small because otherwise it would be rather boring flying across them. Please ALWAYS keep this in mind: SPACE IS HUGE. Real 'outer space' is too big to make a good game.

"add in skills(eventualy) which one can get better at such as minning, trading(can get better prices higher the skill goes), maybe think of some way to work out some sort of skills for space flight contol."

I think there is wide spread agreement with this. There is a thread with ideas for skills a page or two deep in the forum you might want to look for.

"npc convoys"

Coming soon. Check out the 'In Progress' page.

"make it easyer to send messages(like a button)"

I believe there already is. And if thier isn't, you could bind a button with the /bind command. However, if you mean /msg_target, then I agree with you.

"find a way so that you can actualy bribe off npc's not to kill you...(or make them pay you to leave them alone)"

This is a mission structure issue. Expect this sort of behavior, if not this exact behavior, in a few months.

"have fuel base and sheilding that can be bought. more custimizable ships."

We know this is planned. Check out the 'toys' thread and feel free to add your own ideas to it.

"adding diffrent weapons should change what the ship looks like."

We also know this is planned.

"make a npc nation or many npc nations...."

The developers have explained in some detail why this won't be necessary once the game begins to more closely resemble its final state.

"maybe expand the game into morew than just humans, or have the humanss be able to change into somehting no human(like a cyborg or mutation)"

We don't know alot about the story background of the game but we do know that quite abit of it has already been worked out by the designer and we will just have to wait and see what secrets he has.

"i was thinking you could make the stations have there own interior which you can walk around in and such, with custimizable charcter forms and the like."

While that sounds cool, it basically is like making a second (or third) game - sort of like making Wing Commander and Quake at the same time and doing it in a massively multiplayer universe the size of Everquest. Don't you think that they have enough to do. However, I would expect that you will be able to do more in stations eventually, just not necessarily walk around in them like this is Half-Life or something. Besides, there are issues of scale again. The big ships have something like twice the interior space of both world trade centers combined, and presumably a really big station would be even bigger than that.

"players should drop scrap."

Maybe. Dropping scrap is a fairly new feature.

"these are just a few ideas iv had. thanks for your time."

Np. Always nice to see someone with idea. Even if yours are mostly old ideas, at least you were nice about them instead of rude, which is more than we usually get from new posters.

your welcome.

oh and by guided missles i mean player controled.
and when i said nuke i ment that the missle could be like the secondary fire on the redemmer in UT

and for one thing i thought that an asteroid feild would be so large that it fills the space of the area and the asteroids are being replaced constantly. maybe this might be something for a game in the future(had the idea from starwars)

I think it would still be reasonable to make a ring of asteroids that rotate without colliding with each other etc. We know that a ring-like formation can be set up. And we know that asteroids can be given some level of spin and rotation. So why not make the entire ring rotate with spinning asteroids and the like?

One cool thought I had about a hidden sector was to have a station with only one or two entry points. And let's say there are two C-shaped asteroids formations that constantly orbit in opposite directions around a cylindrical or spherical station (at different speeds of course). Now here's the catch! In order to gain access to this secret station, you'll need to wait for the exact time both orbits form a path into the station. In other words the entrance is blocked by both these rotating asteroid ring formations, and the entrance is clear only at certain times of the orbit. If you're too slow you'll get crushed or lost in the formation of orbiting asteroids. If you're too fast you'll slam into one of them. Cool, eh?

oooooh, very cool. Very "Indiana Jones". What if it was an alien base in which you could buy furies?
