Guilds and Governments?

Jul 11, 2003 Oldwulf link
So are you planning on having an actual guild/government system in the game? It would be nice to be able to identify guild members in game. As a new player I didn't even know there were guilds/Governments until I started reading through the Forums.

Oh and if this is a duplicate post, I'm sorry but it takes forever to read through all of the posts. A search function would be great.

Thanks,
~Oldwulf (aka Flaxxon aka DyreWulf)

EDIT: Oh and a search feature for the Ranking system would be great... While I'm on that subject what is the S/K Ratio and how do you figure it?

EDIT2: Yes I know I have very bad grammer....

Quoting from the Vendetta information page:

"Planned features...

# Player-run Guilds allow characters to coordinate on a large scale."

Hit FAQ, then the 'products' tab, then the Vendetta MMORPG information link. Along the way, you should find answers to a wide variaty of questions.

Cool... Thanks Celebrim, but I have already read through the FAQ. I guess what I am asking is whether or not Guild members/Government "members" will be identified in game? To allow people to find a guild/gov member quickly, in game.

I'm thinking of a PSO type situation where there would be a special tab in the station where you could (think UT) bring up a list of current Guilds and Affiliations that are formed in-game and you just join them by clicking on the name and then clicking "join"

Oldwulf: They really haven't released any details of the government/guild interface specification and I really wouldn't expect them too. If you aren't into building video games, its probably pretty boring reading and besides which it is propriatary information.

But I would assume that if they plan Guilds that a specification has already been written for them and that the developers have as a goal making the interface as helpful and robust as they can within the time frame they have.

Probably this means that in stations there will be a government tab of some sort with a list of the guilds/clans/governments/factions/tribes/corporations/agencies/etc. that have offices in the government. If you are not yet a member, if you click on the guild tab, you can click on the goverment office you want to contact and you either reach an NPC (in the case of an official faction like 'Serco Navy') that you can have a simple 'conversation with' or some sort of 'mission statement' page (in the case of player guilds) and a button that allows you to apply for membership. Probably on the government control interface is an option box that says 'Accept members automatically' or 'Accept members only if they have no other faction alligence' or 'Approve all applications' or something.

If you are a member clicking on the guild office brings you to a member page with a bulletin board system, a voting interface (if you are a guild officer), and possibly a command interface (if you are a guild executive).

Or something like that. Only the devs really know, and I'm no expert in interface design so they probably have something even cooler and easier to use planned.
