You mean it would create a shockwave from your ship that would set off all the mines within proximity? Coolness. But it should at least consume all your energy.
I don't like 1 shot kills all mines idea... so I suggest this:
"demining" homers
fuel: 30seconds
damage: 5

splash radius: 10m
ammo: 50, cost per ammo, 10.

we need massive radius, like Arolte says, massive shockwave that sets off the mines. you know, BOOOOOOOM kind of thing. Bit like nuke but bigger, but as little damage as necessary to damage mines (and maybe missiles).

I like a one-shot weapon to destroy mines. It'd be very useful. I think it should be large-slot, though, to keep people in vultures and junk from demining the flag with one. Anything with a large slot would have trouble getting close enough to demine anyhow. :)
Well the balancing factor of the shockwave weapon is the energy consumption. Notice that my proposal would cause all of your energy to drain. You can't just boost into a minefield and engage it whenever you please. You'll also be left vulnerable for a few seconds after you've used it also.
Demining missiles would be a redundant weapon. All you really need is a gauss cannon and your select next/select previous keys to demine. Select a mine, fire. Select next mine, fire. Etc. etc. etc. It's VERY easy to do, especially with the aimbot accuracy of the gauss cannon.

I bet somebody can drop more mines in a set time than you can shoot down in the same time. Demining weapon would be awesome wayt to QUICKLY clear out the minefield and get into the action, even if it takes 250 units of energy and Large slot.

look, the best weapon to demine with is the yellow jackets, buts thats pretty much all they are useful for :P
No, the best weapon to demine is a bus with a phased blaster. It has high accuracy, the highest refire rate of a small weapon, and low energy consumption.

What if you could target multiple objects of the same type?
e.g. target a mine, press the "z" key (or whatever) and the seven mines next to it also get painted. Fire a swarm and each missile tracks a separate mine. BOOM, eight mines gone!

How about we just make mines vulnerable to missile damage so an avalon would set them all off? On top of that we could have mines used as chaff when being chased by a tri-flare valk.
The avalon DOES set them off. However, it's [relatively] small effect range means that it is easy to set up mines that won't be demined by an avalon and that will kill anything exiting a station. Also, mines don't detonate rockets/avalons, so you need to detonate it against a station or roid or whatever.
We need to be able to detonate ALL warheads on board our ship. Imagine planting yourself in a ragnarok, then pushing a key, then all your warheads go off, 8 avalons, and 48 sunflares.

Nah, the ship itself should explode with force equal to an avalon if you /explode it, though. MMmmmmm... This goes for buses too, so buses can be cheap kamikazie ships against the frigate.

no, we shouldn't have a demining weapon with 500m splash. No challenge in demining. Homers&energy weapon should be all it takes.
