This sounds great Incarnate! But maybe add some extra rewards like the quote from http://www.vendetta-online.com/x/msgboard/3/23532?page=2

*Captain: Requirement: Must be a Commander, complete a Border Battle successfully, destroy 500 ships of the opposite nation in Border Patrol and Border Skirmishes, and complete a total of 50 border skirmishes successfully. Rewards: Instant +10,000 combat xp and 1,000,000c (or mission about promotions);+10% combat xp in Border Skirmishes, for kills and completion(and weapons, if it is added);+5% rewards for completed Border Patrol missions.

**Admiral: Requirement: Must be a Captain, Complete a total of 100 border skirmishes successfully, destroy 1,000 of the opposite nation's ships in Border Patrol and Border Skirmishes. Reward: Basic control of Tridents in any border skirmish (except fighter, of course) through PM commands (Stop | Go | Target "*SMV Example" | TurnR | TurnL | TurnU | TurnD), and access to Ultra Charge Powercells at Itani/Serco stations (whichever nation you are/are fighting for [in the case of UITs]).

*= Available fighter wingman with simple controls.

Just some of the rewards, though. Inc's system is vastly superior, as my rough ideas were typed up on-scene and without prior thought.

EDIT: IMHO, the military system should relate to access of Valkyrie and Prometheus ships, as you can only join one military.

It would probably be best if only the Itani and Serco got these command structures so people would start focussing on nationalism, again. At most, the UIT should get a few peacekeeping missions - either that or join the security or mercenary force of a minor corporation.

1) Flag officers should be restricted to native personnel. UIT pilots cannot be commissioned above captain.

2) Military gear should be restricted to military forces. Since no one can be in both armies...

3) Senate IS a good idea. We should discuss who compose it. My vote goes to one Dev as chairman, the nation's guild leaders and a few voted representatives. Elections?

4) Don't forget Military Logistics, where UIT members can play a major role, as RP propose. "Deliver those weapons to frontline and release a fighter to fight!"

@ Alloh: I disagree with the part about UIT restriction. Yes, there should be an itani restriction ofc, but UIT restriction is unnecessary, because any UIT in their right mind will want to be able to control a cap ship, and then we would have more people in the conflict... besides there *is* such a thing as defecting.

As an old time player and mission designer it's good to see some thoughts on capital ship control and player/NPC directed large scale warfare. Thanks for the informative post!

yeah, any chances of logistic components to combat? instead of simply killing the enemy faster than the enemy kills me, include battle supple convoys. Also, have war specific supply traffic to conq stations in deneb, this will make those stations more valuable as time progresses, since more advanced resources will be available and made cheaper.

edit: sorry for bumping related threads, this one seems most viable for a Deneb overhaul idea pool though.
