I know you wont take me seriously but...

The Wraith is a tad powerful.....its maneuverablility with a hvy/hvy is near that of a centurion, and certaintly bigger than a hornet....
Aug 27, 2003 The Kid link
lol the wraith is overshadowed by the prom in every way except the size.
heavy/heavy wraith vs free/fast cent? ;)

heavy/heavy wraith vs bus/bus centurion... maybe, but I doubt it. Are you sure that you don't have the centurion and the centaur messed up?
Aug 27, 2003 HumpyThePenguin link
Im sure...and there are mah players that have flown the wraith and have experienced it...note the *nearly* blaster :P

Heh, too bad the Wraith looks ugly. I think that's what'll keep it balanced--the majority of people who are reluctant to fly an ugly ship.
Aug 28, 2003 HumpyThePenguin link
it doesnt look that ugly.....what it says for is maneuverability is low :P

hmm... o.k.. i have tested this ship, and i have seen both sides (i attacked steve in a variety of ships, and only the prom was really able to hold himself for long in close quarters). i agree with steve, it's like a hog with 2k more hull and a second large port, a small prometheus if you will.
and i don't think it looks ugly. in my opinion, it looks better than the valk or the hog (the valk doesn't look fast, the hog looks too fast... both of these characteristics are to be considered at the same time as their actual agility).
it's got something of a streamline design.
furthermore, you can outhull a valk in it, ram it, and the turret does the rest. there's a 50% chance (roughly) of dying in the process. this, also, has been tested.

...but no way is the wraith more maneuverable than the Hornet. Nope, nope, not in a million years. They are *close* in maneuverability but line a hornet and a wraith up with the same config and the hornet will win every time. I guarantee it.
Aug 28, 2003 HumpyThePenguin link
nope, the wraith is more maneuverable, waaay more

....d00d, I gots the data to prove it:

Still not satisfied? Check this one out:

Or how about this one:

All three experiments agree.

Phaser.....try it in battle, expiremints or not, it brings a wooping on the hornet...severey

Man... an adv gatling turret on a Hornet would kick ass. Maybe an option of four S-ports or swap that with two L-ports? I'm a little reluctant to whine about agility on the Hornet anymore (I still feel it needs to be upped, but I know the devs have probably heard enough about it from me), I think the heavy and medium engines need to be tweaked for energy consumption. There's no doubt in my mind that a Wraith could probably take out a Hornet quite easily, oddly enough.

A wraith can take out a hornet as easilly as a hornet can take out a wraith.

If you let your enemy in an advanced gatling come close, then you are considered to be dead in your hornet. If you can score a couple of shots with a double gauss/sunflare before they come close, then the hornet is the victor. It all depends from circumstances, it has nothing to do with the ship.

And putting 2 L weapon in a hornet ? No way, then a prom or a rag or a centaur would be to sluggish for its firepower.

cheers

Well then... up the firepower of the Rag or Promy. There's no reason why you should throw your arms up and say "no way" all of a sudden. Hehe. I mean the Hornet could be the heavy version fo the Warthog. The Warthog is the only semi-agile fighter with an L-port. Why not make a slightly heavier assault ship with two L-ports? Honestly though, if it were up to me I'd like to be able to swap two S-ports for one L-port. That's all part of the customization and modularity that Vendetta's product page has been advertising. Why leave it to just engines and batteries?
Aug 29, 2003 Renegade ++RIP++ link
because a valk could have 1 large and 1 small weapon too.

Because other ships with high agility could have a large weapon to, imagine a vult with a screamer. or with a nuke. Me whimpers with that idea in the back of his mind :(

That's where the M-port comes into play.

=)
Aug 30, 2003 HumpyThePenguin link
and thats also where you lose customizability. Your ports should really be accumulative...instead of a set number

like certain points weapons take up, or gizmos, or whatever, like MW3 configurabilty
Aug 30, 2003 The Kid link
you can't equip hornets and wraiths with same weapons.
Wraiths have 1 big advantage. It's nice a small.
Aug 30, 2003 Renegade ++RIP++ link
Arolte,

Lets just stop making medium ports, unless the devs were thinking about adding medium ports. but I was having the impression that we werent going to have medium ports, and that was why I thought it would be better to adapt the weapons a little bit :D

I do like the medium weapons though, but I already did a post like this, and it was dismissed, so lets just see what people think of my post in the post created by DS4 :D
