Ships that need some love.

There are some ships in Vendetta that you'll almost never see, because they suck.

You could argue that "hey they have their uses", but if that were true... They'd get used, and they don't.

I'm not looking to make these ships into uber-broken killing machines powered by evil spirits, just simply give people the ability to look at them and say "Yeah, I'd use this".

First ship in need of some love:

-The Aeolus "Light" Behemoth.-
The "light" is in quotes because of this ship's low thrust it actually handles way heavier than the original Behemoth design. The only good thing I can say about this ship is it's only requirements are 5 trade and only 200 Aeolus standing (even Aeolus thinks this ship sucks).

This ship trades so much away just for 15 more meters a second. Including cargo space.

So here's my suggestion: Increase speed and thrust. Speed to 190, and thrust to at least 900N, or more.
Also, the RP'er in me says this ship is well-suited for smuggling, so why not toss in an integrated scan-blocker?

Then there is:
-The TPG Raptor-
Name sounds cool, I guess. To be fair, this ship is almost useful. To the extent you may from time to time actually see one about. These are short lived excursions and will not happen often.
Its stats look pretty good on paper, similar to a Vulture but with better turbo thrust. It even has an integrated storm radar! Unfortunately it has one deal-breaker: It's nearly twice the size of any other light fighter. Very few people actually spend a lot of time in storms, and even then for whatever reason storm radars work pretty well sitting in the cargo bay of any ship.

My suggestion: Resizing the ship to be smaller might be a good idea, but increasing the ship's armor to match other similar-sized ships might be simpler to pull-off. Possibly up to 11k. Then there's the "all-weather" nick name it apparently has. I know, the dusty asteroid maps and whatever the hell that green shit is that surrounds some stations (Nickelodeon slime?) aren't technically weather, but if the Raptor had the (unique) ability to see deeper into these, it would be pretty sweet. While were at it, toss in an integrated group radar extender. Then, it will truly be worthy of the "All weather" moniker.

-The Atlas Type B-
Allegedly, this ship has "an increased hold". Well the Atlas Type X has it beat by two, on top of being completely better at everything else. Not to mention the MK III generic brand variant also beats the Type B at nearly everything. This ship needs a lot of love.

My suggestion: Nerf the Type X cargo space down to 28. Increase Type B's cargo space to 40. And make the Type B's thust/weight/turbo/armor better than the MK III's

That's it for now, feel free to amend any suggestions or add some more ships that I have overlooked.

+as many as I'm welcome to give.

These were all suggested separately some months ago and with nearly the same ideas you posted. I myself posted the suggestion to buff the light moth and with virtually the same stat changes (scan blocker is a good idea, didn't think of that). The raptor just needs to be about 20% smaller, imo. I agree with most of what you suggest for the Atlases, except nerf the X cargo to 34 instead of 28. It costs a lot more than an atlas 3, and should at least have as much cargo, considering the ship is a trade ship. +1 to general B improvements and 40 cargo space.

+1 to everything Nahin suggested.

+ 1 to suggestions on Aelous Light Behemoth
- 1 to decreasing cargo capacity on TPG Atlas Type X
- 1 to suggestions on TPG Raptor, I think the other threads regarding changes to the Raptor make more sense.
+ 1 to TPG Atlas Type B improvements as recommended

+1 Aeolus Light Moth
-1 Atlas
+1 Raptor (Integrated Group Radar would be nice since it wouldn't otherwise be equipable as a large port item)

mulle: link? Seeing as how there have been several suggestions on how to improve the raptor, it's hard to know which one in particular you are referring to

+1 but get rid of trader badge 3 to get "light" moth, if u have that then u can get reg moth or xc
Oct 29, 2011 tarenty link
No, I think the trade badge 3 should stay for light moth, and the XC should also require a trade badge; maybe intermediate trader 2?

EDIT: reduce light moth mass to 28k kgs, it is supposed to be lighter. Can't find my own thread about it.

Intermediate Trader 2 would be an incredible grind to get the XC. I've been playing over 2 years and only just got Intermediate Trader 1 a few weeks ago. Plus, I couldn't imagine grinding those badges without access to the XC.

And the light moth mass is already 28,000 kg, but it could probably stand to be decreased a little more.

1: oh, didn't remember the light moth mass was already 28,000kgs.
2: IT 1 then; meridian, you don't trade much, do you? >.>

Alloh's mom is a massive, high-capacity, often traded ship that's frequently in need of some love. God I'm bored.

Don't nerf the Atlas X, buff the Atlas B. Give it more cargo hold.

I fly Raptors a lot, and their size isn't so much a problem as their slow cruise/strafe speed. 60m/s puts you at an obvious disadvantage in a dogfight. It even makes it not worth attacking hive bots with it in ion stormed skirmishes. Even though it might turn a bit harder then a Vulture with mostly the same specs because of it's *length*, the speed difference much more of a disadvantage then the large size of the ship.

For example, there's a lot of folks who fly the Corvus Marauder, and it's got a slightly larger profile than the Raptor does, but still holds it's own in a dogfight because it's not crippled by a slow strafe.

The Aeolus Light Behemoth should probably have a bit more thrust.

Also, why the heck does the Behemoth Heavy Miner MkII still only have 10000 armor? That's a very difficult ship to get, and repairs are expensive. Hell, it can self-kill in one shot with 3 proximity mines! (3*4000 = 12000 = boom. dead.) Give it at least 15000

+1 to everything nahin said.

I found myself agreeing with everything when I was reading his post.

Also, abortretryfail, about the heavy miner mk ii, it has an extra port so it makes sense the armour is decreased a lot.

Proximity mines only do 2500 per mine.

Self-inflicted damage is doubled, calcium. Your own prox mines do 5000 per mine to you.

hmm never knew that...

Get a friend in the same ship you're in, and equip a sunflare. Go outside the NFZ, blast him point blank on the nose with a flare, and check his hull %. Then go inside the docking bay or whatever and fire one when your nose is right against the object -- you'll be about twice as damaged.
Nov 01, 2011 abortretryfail link
Have him check his hull %, only the player's client and the server know exactly what it is. Everyone else sees a rounding error.
