When installing triple sunflare launchers on your Valkyrie, be sure to insert them in the opposite direction.

As Arolte was alluding to, the most common use of the Valkyrie is that as a missile platform.

You simply load up 3 Sunflare rocket launchers, a fast charge battery, and a heavy engine. However, many people resent those that do use such a ship.

Here are my combos, all with a heavy engine and fast charge battery:

two tachyons, one gemini heater
two tachyons, one sunflare rocket
two gauss, one gemini heater
two gauss, one sunflare
two gauss, one tachyon (kudos to fenix for info on this combo)
three sunflare
three gemini (for dealing with rag seeker spammers)

Load 3 sunflares and practice on bots. When you get ok with bots, go shoot a few enemy buses up, then move on to players in better ships. Untill you get ok, run from any fights you dont wana fight, its easy in a valk. Make sure your Itani cause then you get valks real easy, and you can fire the sunflares point blank at enemy valks, they got a lot farther to travel if they die. Main thing is to run and gun with flares. Oh, its also cool to come up with a catch phrase for when you kill people. Macro that sucker to a button. Pick like a nursery rhyme and change it a little to fit...thats always good.

Homestars Recipe for Success
-----------------
One Valkyrie Advanced Fighter
Three sunflare missle systems
One Heavy Engine
One Fast Charge Battery*
One enemy ship
One catch phrase

Mix Ingrediants. Apply sunflares liberaly to enemy ship. Its ok if you lose the Valkyrie, just start the recipe over, the ingrediants are cheap. Add catch phrase. The mixture should thicken, if there are too many enemy ships in the batch just leave them on the side. Roast until taste.

Serves 2-3 Newbs.

*High Altitude Directions: Replace fast charge battery with a heavy battery.

Valkyrie
Three Government Issue Plasma Cannons
Light Engine
Fast-Charge Battery

I do have people that will testify taht I do use that config.

only 2-3 Newbs?
Practice harder.

Anyway, the winning set-up for a valk is three phaser blasters, and light engine and battery. The valk works best with the light ones because it's a light ship, you don't want to over-power it, then it might explode for no reason.

ahdinh2,

Ignore genka and roguelazer, they're taking you for a ride. Cembandit is giving you directions to become what is commonly known as a "griefer," whose character merely goes around killing other people. However, his loadout is the most effective in the game.

Rogulazer's and genka's "advice" will only get you killed. Come on guys, lying to a newbie should be below you.

Camps, you're a role-player, right?
Well, scroll down to the role-play section.

/me is sorry for giving crappy directions though, please forgive him and his horrible n00bness.

My post was ment as a comedy...makeing light of my HSR personality
My real advice is to play with all the weapons, and figure out which ones you really like. I still swear by the heavy engine though. Tachyons can be downright brutal, but dont group more then two. Try to save homers for when the target is low on energy, he cant turbo away. The guass cannon is an "equalizer" for skill in energy fights, and can be very effective by itself or ina group of three. If useing three guasses I suggest useing a heavy battery.

I use a valk with two geminis and a tach. the idea is to get them witht he tach a few times, then unload 4 missles into them when they're low on energy. the only problem is that 1 tach barely keeps them at bay.

So they get really close, you shoot them with the missles, and nail yourself.

If you can work it though, it pwns.

Oh, I'm number 249 on the rankings, w00t!

Actually, I do use the config I listed. It keeps people from accusing me as a rocket-rammer. I've got 2 kills (one of which was NOT a bus) with it!

Camps, I've killed people with significantly less... I've managed to take down a few valk jocks with just a stock bus...

Caution: the suggestion below is made by a person who loves the pathetic "charged cannon" unless your skills are supremly l337 prepare to get pwz3d by all but b0tz

Fast Charge Battery (need the rapid regain)
Medium Engine (the valk can take the agil hit in it's stride)
Charged Cannon (use the center hardpoint)
2x Gemini Missile Launchers

The charged cannon will rarly hit at any decent range so use it when people (like rammers) get too close for comfort. The geminis do respectable damage, but if your target turbos away they will emerge unscathed.

I find the dual flare and 1 guass is quite fearsome in combination with a fast charge battery and heavy engine.
