New Station Wish List

Oct 23, 2003 Magus link
We know the station interface is going to be adjusted soon to be less utilitarian and more functional. So what new types of features would you want added? What would you want removed?

My personal wish list is as follows:
1.) In station art. Just a little picture unique to each "tab" to show what that part of the station looks like. Sort of like in Escape Velocity.

2.) A settings/options tab. This is probably the most requested feature. A zone where we can adjust our graphics settings without risking immolation by sunflares. It would also be nice to have a little GUI interface for adjusting aliases and binds, whether or not to have the cargo display automatically open whenever we leave the station, etc.

3.) Save/Delete ship configurations. Self explanatory. A tab where we can manage ship configurations and save them so what we can repurchase ship types we use often with the click of a button rather than buying each individual part seperately. If a specific part is not available in that station or in your inventory, it would say so and ask if you would like to purchase what is available anyway. For example:
"The following items were not available here:
1.) Sunflare rocket launcher.
2.) Heavy Engine.
Purchase ship without above parts?
<yes> <no>"
If the chassis was not availible (like a Valkyrie) it would just say: "Itani Valkyrie Chassis not available here."

4.) The ability to buy and sell inventory in other sectors. It would be nice if I could pre-buy 20 widgets in sector 9 from sector 7 and have them waiting for me when I got there. But more importantly, it would be nice to be able to sell my fleet of Marauders or stockpiled cargo/ammunition in sector 14 from sector 9 for a little extra cash without having to travel a great distance.

That's all I can think of for now.

I've wanted a more interactive outfitting section. Something with a realtime 3d model of the ship, and port setups highlighted. Then you could see how the weapon loadout looks. 'Course, that won't be too much fun untill a modular system is implamented where if you buy a weapon and put it in a port, you will actualy see in on the model in game.
