4+ Mousebuttons.

Greetings and Salivations.

Yes, it's been awhile--my beloved computer had joined the Hall of Flame. Long story, short conclusion. So I'm back, with all-new hardware.

Amongst this new hardware is a five-button mouse, and I do regularily use all five buttons. I can easily conceive of many uses for these buttons, but right now, Vendetta (at least the Windows version) is only configured to use three.

While this might only be a Windows issue, I thought I might post it here in the event it isn't and is part of the code: Could we have support for extra buttons in the game?

hmmmm... I have an 8 button mouse... but I guess only 3 of the buttons are mapped to clicks, the others are keystrokes.

same here (8 buttons), and i use keystrokes for the nonmapped commands (using usboverdrive)

5-Button on a OSX Mac...only 3 mapped...one acts like a drag button, so it is just continuous fire, so 1 button not useable...I'd like it to be used for my 3rd fire option, since it's so hard to use the scrollwheel button sometimes...

Windows normally only sends 3 mouse button events: Left, Middle, and Right. Then there's the MWHEELUP/DOWN. I would have to go the DirectInput way of handling the mouse and that's too much work for anytime soon. Is there a way to be able to set up the other buttons to emulate keys and then bind the keys as you would with the keyboard?

I tried that using my microsoft rf mouse in its preferance pane (im OSX) but it didn't work... Maybe Vendetta overrides the preferance pane? Don't know...

Ray, there *probably* is a way. There may well be software on the mouse driver CD, since it has a USB plug. I just didn't bother with that and plugged it straight into the PS2 port with a converter, so I didn't have to configure anything. (I figure they gave me those PS2 ports for a reason.)

I'll take a look a little later and see what I can find. There may be a public domain utility for it as well.

So I grabbed the Microsoft software off their website, and incredibly... wait. Not incredibly at all, it made things worse.

That's Microsoft. They make good hardware like keyboards and mice, but their software? Oi vey.

Since my mouse is plugged into the PS2 port, I expect any standard mouse software would do the trick. Does anybody know anything about standard multi-button mouse software? That could be a good link for a Vendetta config FAQ.

Good hardware, bad software... Just look at Xbox and Windows :P
