Custom Widgets

Dec 19, 2003 gen2002 link
I've played vendetta as Trader for a long time
and traded with all of the Widget types, but when
you exprienced with all of the Widget types you
Starting to get bored..

So i thought maybe we could create are own widgets
and sell them for profit. Not to a station but to another
player. Maybe the devs could program a new module to the modular station to do just that.

Of course , we should able to name them and thier icon would be a generic one or maybe selectable from few icons.

Without a means of production and the consumption of resources newly created widgets would have no value.

Also, widget creating would be yet another thing that the devs would have to filter for tastefulness. And while I doubt its actually illegal, it just raises too many issues if someone starts creating (for example) 'Pepsi' widgets and selling them.

Lastly, I doubt that just having a different name on the widget would substatially increase the satisfaction of playing the game.

But heh, congradulations for thinking up an idea I haven't seen before, and the idea of having a means of transfering cargo between players in a station may have some merit to it.

Put cargo togheter and make something new out of it combining their value?

Let's say sector 387 sells "Cybernetic Arms" (200c each) and sector 338 sells "Small laser weapon components" (500c each).
I put them both in my hired (?) space in the sector 323 station and pay some NPC to combine them.
Tadaa, I have 1 unit of "Cybernetic weapons systems" (800c each).
Then I buy some "Cybernetic Legs" (300c each) from s378 and some "Large laser weapon components" (900c each) from s338 and combine them (the process costing 400c, including rent in s323) and get "non-standardized cybernetic legs" (20c each).

In other words: If you know some trade secrets you can start a very profitable thing, but if you have no idea what you're doing you're pretty much broke-in-a-flash.

Programming the actual combinations should not be too hard, but the REST of it might be a lot of work.

Just an idea :)
