Petition - Defbots' ship model

Jan 09, 2004 AgY link
Gimme one or two and i will do this. But i will not be able (and should not be able) to fight 6 of them. And yes i agree that they are too strong.

They need to be that strong to be able to fight against flares. (And they still are not able to) This and your example indicateing that the flares are too strong.

I dont want to bitch about the flares. And i still going a bit OT. But i think the model is not the problem but the flares.

The NPCDEF's code appears to have changed. They now dodge around flares.

Let me verfiy this. Maybe that i change my position at the models a bit :)

I wish to change the model that the defbots use. A vulture is impossible to hit with anything except sunflares. If the defbots used more "realistic" ship models, then it would be much easier to use traditional methods against them. Right now, capping is done by exploiting the bot code by either using a flechette cannon to keep them at bay, using a flechette to make them back up into roids, prox-mining them, or sunflaring them all at once.

SUGGESTION (you are not endorsing this by signing): I would like to see the defbots use a different ship model. Maybe the blues could get 2 valks and 2 centurions, the golds get two hornets, two centurions, and the Serco get 2 wart hogs and two centurions. Weapon loadout could even change, to the Valks, hornets, and hogs getting dual flare launchers (repeat: 2 seconds), and the Cents get a single frigate cannon.

at least, they should have the same maneuverability, so no Valks, mabye wraiths or someshing

using a flechette to make them back up into roids

DOH! That was what I was doing wrong ;)

- also, just have 4 defbots.. preferbably valks with the same stats as the current defbot-vults. Valks are easier to hit head-on then a vulture head-on ;)

Guys, simple yes or no's. You are NOT endorsing a change to valks, that was a suggestion. Lemme restate:

Resolved: That the current NPCDEF's models should be changed from Vultures. I'm assuming Sheean and Humpy are voting "yes."

Vote: Yes. It's the humane thing to do.

"A vulture is impossible to hit with anything except sunflares."
Thats wrong. [put your favorite valk/vult/flare flame in]

"the defbots used more "realistic" ship models, then it would be much easier to use traditional methods against them."
In my opinon solo caping should not be possible.

vote: no

Hmm.. I was thinking, the defbots where mad so uber so people could find weaknesses/exploits in the bot-code right? So... why not put some more 'normal' bots in the home sectors (because the exploitablity is begining to reach an end now ;) And make a special 'flag cap' level where people of all nations can get in and get a flag, trying to fight their way trough those evil uber bots. Make it connect to s9, make it just s9 but with some stuff relocated, add a worm hole back to s9 and a wormhole to the sector with the flag, and voilá!

AgY, I would immensely enjoy watching you come to 12 and hit the defbots in anything other than sunflares (and live to tell of it). Even if you have a capping party of 5 - 8 players, nullifying the defbots requires either ramming them, proxmining them, or spacing them.

The point of the uber bots is because the devs WANT us to exploit the code, so they can find out where there are weaknesses in the programming, so once its perfect they'll tone it down, until then, just don't cap, or be patient.

-He's not asking us to tone it down, just change it from a vult to something easier to hit. It's a mild suggestion.

OK.
