Reduce Revenant MKI Turbo Drain to 48

Dec 12, 2018 Risk Everything link
The Revenant is an important beginner's ship. It introduces multi-port capabilities, a reasonable amount of armor, decent speed, somewhat reasonable cargo space, and the ability to mine.

It would make sense for this ship to have a lower turbo drain that could take advantage of the Hive Fast Charge Power Cell to have infinite turbo ability. Right now the only two ships that can infi-turbo with the HFC are the EC-88/89 and the Greyhound. The first of which is extremely slow and vulnerable, and the second of which would only be attained by someone who can already access the Fast Charge PC.

Note that I am not suggesting the MKII or MKIII have this feature, as their upgraded armor or cargo capacity have to come at some price.

This makes the Hive cell actually useful, and gives the Revenant MKI a distinguishable benefit when combined with that cell. I think this would be of great benefit to newer players and help to introduce them to the player market, farming bots for useful drops, etc.

Instead of buffing a ship to buff a cell seems rather odd. I would prefer just directly buffing the Hive Cell. Maybe it could have the same stats as the UC. It should definitely be something good because it's a bot drop and therefore rare.

The HFC isn't that rare. I have piles of them and keep giving them away to new players because they are better than the Free, Light, or Medium PCs. Transport Bots drop these, as well as a lot of SSS. Farming transports for SSS results in picking up a lot of HFCs.

This isn't buffing a power cell at all. It is merely giving it a better purpose.

I don't think they should be the same as the Ultra, considering what a player has to go through to earn access to the Ultra, which is then usually gifted to new players by their mentors.

Maybe instead of touching the recharge rate of a HFC bump the grid up a bit, instead of 20, make it 24, That would allow people to run say a CWM and a sunflare or whatever.

What the hell guys? This post is not about changing the HFC. It's about changing the Rev MKI to make it more useful to new players.

+1 to the original suggestion.

Why? The CWM was designed so no fighter cell can support more than one. Also makes the new small port posi way too OP.

This would be helpful to new players, easy to implement, and doesn't (as far as I can tell) affect the late-game meta or introduce any game breaking exploits (we already have infini-turbo ships), and the Rev I isn't exactly super speedy or combat capable.

It would greatly increase the value of the HFC cell for new players, making their early botting drops more useful. It would also ease exploration of the universe.

You probably haven't even tried the new Corvus Ultra Posi, it's not OP at all. It's more of a chaser/botting weapon and not very good for PvP.

And -1 to the original suggestion because infinite turbo is already cancer and it should be rare and not more ships should have it. And giving the 2nd ship in the game a strong "late game" feature doesn't make any sense. If you want infinite turbo you have to work a bit more for it. You are basically invincible with an infinite turbo ship such as the Hog 2 or Atlas X.

FUn Fact: 2 CUPB can deshield a player dent.
Anyway I think the OP is a good idea. Simple yet super useful to newer players.
The Rev mk1 is the go-to ship for beginners and most players can move on from this model rather fast and have better ships unlocked.
Hell why not make the mk2 48 drain as well.
Side note : the Revenant mk3 is freaking awesome almost Overpowered.

+1 for the mk1.

@heinii the Rev MK1 has a max turbo speed of 180 m/s. That's not what I would call being "invincible". You can easily catch up to it.

The EC-104 has 26cu cargo space and 200m/s turbo, making it as good at trade as a Rev2, better than a Rev1. Make 5k profit trading commodities station to station without a mission to get the EC-104. You may need to log out and back in to get the badge to register. The rev2 might still be better at combat than a EC-104, but I recommend the hog2 for combat in general, leave the large port empty.

The base models of the rev, atlas, hornet, and hog are serious handicaps. The mk2 models are significantly better. This buff could be applied to all these base models.
