Capital ship warranty cool down period.
Capital ship warranty cool down period.
The manufacturing tooling required to make capital ships in m7 needs some cooling down and other costs to run it quickly in succession. What I propose is a simple doubling.
First time in 24 hours that a capship has a warranty claim:
500k to replace
Each additional claim:
2 Minute wait/ 1 million credits
4 minute wait/ 2 million credits
8 minute wait/ 4 million credits
16 minute wait/ 8 million credits
32 minute wait/ 16 mil credits
64 minute wait/ 32 mil credits
128 minute wait/ 64 mil credits
256 minute wait/ 64 mil credits
512 minute wait/ 64 mil credits
1024 minute wait / 64 mil credits
1440 minute wait/ 64 mil credits

Not making a claim in 24 hours drops the cool down period back to the base level of 500k and no wait.

I'm interested in feedback on this. I've always intended for insurance to have a "scale" involved, relating to time and frequency of destruction (rather than the current low fixed-cost), but I'm curious what people think of this particular scale.
I say brilliant. +1
+1. I like this idea. Even though I lose mine atleast a dozen times a day
+1 sounds like an excellent idea
+1. Awesome idea
Why is this better? How does this improve the game?
I am not looking for an argument, I am just curious how this
is seen as a improvement.
-1, until a good explanation is provided why.

It depends on one's definition of what "the game" is, as always.
But, my intention was for the insurance costs to scale based on time and usage, to give some sense of value to the loss of a capital ship, and make "ridiculous" sacrifice and re-use less likely.
Of course, that has to be balanced against not making people to feel so "precious" about their capships that they never risk them. But I think there's some reasonable middle ground that has a sliding scale.
My original goals were probably more aggressive (a more costly curve) than those posted here; but it's been so long and I've never gotten around to implementing them anyway, that I'm fine with trying these numbers.

I do know many of us have different definitions of what the game is. Personally, I love the life of a trader/miner in VO. Improving licenses and badges keeps me returning, (Time spent online:191 days, 1:47:55).
I personally have never made a "ridiculous" sacrifice of a cap ship, but I have /exploded at least 3 Tridents to date in order to deny a PK to aggressors who caught me “flying dirty”, and I will explode 3 more for the same reason if I need to, (but that is how I “game”). No "precious" here.
Because whatever the Dev’s decide will apply to all of us, it is fair – game on; it’s all good.

I remember talk of a increasing scale on the cost of the insurance for replacing Cap Ships from back when we first started building them and really thought that was the way it was already, till I heard of some who were replacing Goli several times a day. Since I have only replaced a Dent once in a given day, or even a year, I didn't have personal knowledge of the cost.
I believe there should be an increased cost for replacing the Ships within a given 24 hour period. I don't really feel that it would change most players use of the Caps. As long as the "cool down" is only 24 hours to get it dropped back the the 500k replacement cost, Players have an option to stop replacing when the cost got too high for their bank.

I dont think anyone loses enough capships in a day for the scale to ever go beyond the second or third tier
However it is still better than the current system so sure.

...it has always seemed somewhat upside-down that it costs more to repair a dent that is near death rather than simply let it die and buy a new one :p
