The rule breaker should be responsible for anything the strike force kills.

When furies and the squadron kill something, the pilot who controls those assets takes the standing hit.

I propose that this mechanism be applied to strike force as well. Each pilot gets their own set of strike force, and if those strike force kill or damage an unintended target, the law breaker should take the standing hit.

Any pilot (or player owned capital ship) hit by strike force fire should get a self defense flag against the offender that the strike force is chasing.

Adding this mechanism to the game would do two things:

First, it would make sure that offender would take standing hits (if killed assets are admired or better. Though I would actually like to see a standing hit for ALL non hated kills via the SF).

Second, it would give victims of such attacks a way to defend themselves.

Currently, someone can shoot anything in the NFZ to trigger the SF, and then use the SF to attack targets. There is no way to defend oneself against this. Ana attack against the offending pilot, results in a NFZ violation.

Implementing this suggestion would give a victim a self defense flag, if they (or their capital ship) are struck by SF fire. This would allow the victim a chance to kill the attacker, thus removing the attacking for the sector.

That's an interesting notion.

The ramifications would be even more significant, if coupled with the other Suggestion about TKOS only ending by Timer, in Game Time.

Further feedback is welcome.

This has the potential to affect me negatively but, it is also really logical... so +1.

I think this makes sense, +1

I like the idea, too often i saw the usage of the NFZ SF "exploit". If you trigger the SF, you should be responsible for what is going to happen.

Super Logical this will stop a lot of the exploiting and shenanigans with the SF. +1

Many times (Primarily for me with capships) will someone fly into my capital docking port, "jam" themselves there (I may be in the station or flying towards the capital) then they shoot triggering the SF, the SF will fly out and attempt to kil lthe offender and result in deshielding, then destroying the capital, whether it's got no one in it or has multiple ppl in it, the offender looses no standings, as they did not "kill" the players.

I Believe, this, and the post Inc referenced are both good suggestions for "Beefing up the SF".

This is one of my favorite ways to shoot XCs without incurring standing loss. I say keep the status quo!

Just a note (for posterity) that this was implemented, along with the change to TKOS in game-time, in 1.8.536.

This needs to be changed, at minimum, so that only kills from the strike force to *players* causes permanent faction loss. Strike forces accidentally kill their own members *all the time* in the natural course of dispatching their duties, even if you immediately turbo out of the sector as soon as triggering a strike force, and even if it's triggered on accident. This change essentially makes ever triggering TempKOS in any station for any reason a massive risk of huge faction loss, which is unfair.

I'm fine with measures for preventing the abuse of a strike force to attack other players, but please be reasonable here. I know this got a lot of +1s, but I'm not sure all of the ramifications of this change were well thought out.

After discussion in 100 im inclined to side with hawk and say that sometimes standing loss can be pretty high.. however, as someone who spends above average time playing as well as observing the players and chat.. recovering standing is so easy that standing loss is almost inconsequential; a topic which comes up regularly in chat and is well known to even the newest of players. Players openly brag in chat that they don't even care if they take a hit. (and why should they in the current state of the game, see below)

While an entirely different subject, it goes hand in hand: until bulk proc missions are completely random, or requiring significantly more variety of items as to make 'standing kits' less useful or better yet obsolete, standing loss is at best a minor inconvenience to the majority of players with the ability to move vast amounts of items around or have their friends do so on their behalf. Here and now with only one to three specific items at any given location you can undo standing damage done within 10 minutes flat.

With that said, raising or lowering the bar changes nothing from my point of view, although there are some who may not have the time or resources to achieve such things.. I'm confident most of us do. Hell, some of us even move items for standing and trade levels as a service so it should be readily accessible to all. *cough cough* ^_^

Inc, just program the strikeforce to target better! that would solve the problem. I sometimes jump into sectors forgetting I was temp kos. That shouldn't lead to punnishment.

". I sometimes jump into sectors forgetting I was temp kos"

What I do is i check my standing on this page before I jump into a sector.
