Petition to abolish Petitions

The last few days, there have been a glut of petitions. This trend must stop. Please support my petition to abolish all petitions from the boards. Thank you.

Edit: Fixed spelling errors. I have *got* to stop posting on these boards on work nights and get some sleep. The partition thing is a carryover from work I'm afraid. Computer tech. It just saturates the brain.

Original sentence: "Please support my peptition to abolish all partitions from the boards."

I agree, people should only post a petition if they have a well thought out idea that has gotten quite a bit of POSITIVE attention from people.

Seems a bit hypocritical...

Proposing a Petition which complains about...petitions?

Strange..but then again, if I try to understand logic it all seems illogical to me...

Petitions are sometimes a good tool for alerting a democratic government to the will of the people. This is an engine test. If you want things to develop in a logical fashion and have a positive outcome, leave it to the developers to roll things out in the order that makes the most sense.

And, while your comments and suggestions are very welcome and important, this ain't a democracy.

I'm signing!

I doubt very much that anyone actually expects the devs to change something just because a bunch of people signed it saying they want it. However... it _does_ give the devs an idea of how many people are in favor of such a change. Therefore, I think petitions are useful. Maybe if we had a polling system the Devs could put out a poll asking people's opinion regarding one subject and we could all reply "yes" or "no"... it'd be a better way to get opinions, though that's just an idea.

Perhaps creating a Poll feature would make thinks a bit more efficent.
Also, I don't think this is a "democratic government" its a dictatorship/oligarchy.

oligarchy isn't that a govt headed by a small group, usually the inner circle of a relegion?

hmm on second thought that would make vendetta qualify, all hail the dev-gods. :)

my vote is yes btw, in case my sarcastic thread yesterday didn't make that obvious. (i had FM move it to off topic)

Guys, the goal of a petition is to show that the community favors or does not favor a current course of action. Look at my cargo dumping petition, we have a 15:1 ratio favoring the varied destruction of cargo on an exploding ship. It shows the devs that such a change would not prompt widespread complaining among the community.

My vote is nay.

I think his point is that we need to cut down on the number of petitions at once. One person started a petition, and then several more followed within a few days. Simple case of copycat-ism.

You guys misunderstood. Read the first post again. It says that this is a "peptition" to "abolish all partitions from the boards." I don't know about you but I don't want board partitions to be abolished. I'm not sure what this peptition thing is, but I don't want to find out. It sounds like a cheap pepsi knockoff. Yuck!

Peptition is a form of peptide bonds used mainly between Off Topic threads. It glues them together into partitions of boards. So, we obviously need to unglue them together to form nice little globs.

Yeah, no cheap Pepsi knockoffs. Must have the bonifide, true, and original Pepsi. Right on my brother.

Oh, I fixed the spelling errors. :-p Have to get more sleep and proof read 3 or 4 times before I hit that Post button.

And yes, Celkan, that sums it up pretty much. I think that suggestions are cool, that's what we're here for. Petitions just don't have that "I have an idea to make the game more betterer" [sic] feel to them. They seem to be overall more of a demand/ultimatum kind of deal.

This post was ment to be somewhat ironic in nature. So don't take it all too seriously. Okay?

as for the spelling errors: spellcheck is your friend.
as for the petitions: i agree a bit with GThang: they need to be institutionalized or encounter a severe decrease in numbers. the former thing is not going to happen, because the devs need time for the test, like incarnate said, and the latter can easily be achieved by self-discipline.

paedric: But petitions work! Look at my "Small Slot Gatling Petition". It was posted, got its 50 signatures, and we got the flechette, which is a small-slot gatling in all but name.
