TPG Behemoth UltraFast

Apr 23, 2022 SIGTERM link
Responding to the increasing threat of pirates in greyspace, The Propellers Group designed a prototype cargo transport ship based on Behemoth. This ship will be deployed when losing the cargo is absolutely not an option. Taking cues from Aeolus Behemoth Light, TPG reworked on the engine so that it can handle more power when push comes to shove. This will allow the ship to achieve a turbo speed of 220 m/s.

However, this does not come without sacrifices. The ship's armor had to be shed by quite an amount in order to not add to the weight of its massive engines, causing a decrease in acceleration. This sacrifice had to be made to preserve cargo space which could otherwise give more room to the engines. The engine is fed more power by overloading the ship's powercell. It must be noted that the powercell must be fully charged. In this state, weapons cannot be used since adding any more strain to the powercell is just suicide. For the same reason the ship cannot warp before entering a cooldown period of six seconds. Classified reports say Azek I-12, Azek Manufacturing almost burnt down while trying to test warp in overloaded state citing various reasons along the lines of "a cooldown period being enough time to invalidate the existence of the prototype". Weighing the pros and cons where the ship has some chance to escape as compared to zero chance of survival, the former was chosen and the engineers hard-coded the cooldown period.

Stats:
Armor: 11000
Mass: 30000 kg
Weapons: 1L
Speed: 65 m/s
Cargo space: 110 u
Turbo energy: 50/s
Turbo Speed: 160 m/s
TurboBoost Speed: 220 m/s
Thrust: 500 N
Turbo Thrust: 900 N
TurboBoost Thrust: 1100 N
Spin Torque: 19.0 Nm
Compatible powercells: Fast Charge powercell, Ultra Charge powercell, Improved High Density powercell, Extreem Drain powercell

Requirements:
A mission tree where TPG creates a fake piracy scenario and the pilot has to prove his capability in delivering the cargo safely using Centaurs and Behemoths. In the final mission the pilot is provided with the prototype ship. Since this is a prototype, TPG monitors the ship constantly and it is not advised to use the ship when sensitive information/cargo is being hauled like business secrets and prototypes. Losing the ship will cause the mission tree to restart and the ship can be obtained again.

If the ship fits in the game nicely without breaking it too much, it can be made available at all TPG stations for 300000c and 25 crystals.

I suck at naming things so please give this ship a nicer name if it is ever implemented.

-1. Any trade ship that is EVER able to go as far as a greyhound I will never support.

Hence, the cooldown period. That is enough time for fast ships to get the moth in PCB's range

Yeah, no... This ain't it chief.

In all seriousness, a 220 m/s moth is just ridiculous, you'd be better off suggesting a buff to the Aeolus Light Behemoth.

I like the idea, but I think it needs to have paper thin armor. I don't think there needs to be a new thing called "turbo boost", as it seems like it might complicate things (including all the "powercell has to be max first" stuff). I think simply making the turbo thrust much more powerful AND draining will do the trick.

I'm not really certain how thrust and drain work out, so it would take some tinkering. But the idea of a Behemoth that can momentarily turbo quickly at high rates of speed and acceleration for evasive purposes, but otherwise takes longer to get anywhere and has paper thin armor seems legit to me.

The most common use of this I could think of is giving the hauler just a little bit more time to get the hell out of a sector.

Armor suggestion: 5000

Also I think the cargo should be compatible with whatever you envision this being used to haul. If for capship parts, consider raising it to fit some of the larger ones.

Counter-suggestion: a Behemoth XXC with 250 cu cargo, 1k Armor and double the thrust and turbo Thrust of the reg moth, but it can't dock in any capship (to prevent use in overstuffing).
And it's manued at Dau K10, using 2 IBA, 4 FCP and 10 FFSA.

The light moth does 175. You are going to need some crazy trade offs to get to 220. Like dropping all weapon ports. I don't know what this TurboBoost thing is, but it is not in game right now, so i would say drop it. I suggest making the non turbo performance lackluster. Increase the turbo drain so someone would need an extreme drain to infiturbo with it.

- 1 to the SuperGreyHound with super cargo

Unless the Greyhound can have the same speed, torque, thrust, and spin torque, and this "turbo boost" thrust.
