Yes. Dual megaposi wielder can do some damage,BUT if you get in range of anything that can use two weapons (or one heavy) you will be instantly deshielded (more than 2k damage in single gametick will crack the shield before it will insta regen in next tick)(i hope it work like that). Ultra high regen will protect it from small hive bots that can attack it when mining in asteroid belt while not protecting from anything bigger than assault bot.

No. It will be useless for mass hauling. If it will exist it would be pirates' favourite target because of low shield capacity and no turrets. And don't forget about no ensurance

No. 100 grid power is not a lot. Its just enough for 2 Queen mining beams.

It won't be "useless" for mass hauling. A ship like this can hold 8 ECs, which when overstuffed translates to 8 XCs. Thats 1600 cu of cargo there. It might be easily deshielded and have low armour, as well as no insurance. But, if you're careful with it, it would be a pretty good trade-off for hauling. So it will be used for mass hauling.

It wkuld give a much higher capacity for people who dont have capships and have Basic Miner 4, to continue their work to higher badges. Could also be used instead of a dent for a better mining platform, which currently the dent sucks at.

From my point of view its better to add something weak and buff if basing on player feedback, than to add something OP and nerf it.

"Rule #5 - Be Thorough in your Suggestion, with Each Idea in a Unique Thread.

Post the positives, the downsides or risks, the trade-offs and ramifications, and why you think the idea improves the game as a whole. Consider the likely development burden, and factor that into your thought process.

Include potential acquisition barriers (item cost, is it a drop, is it manufactured, what are the level requirements, etc)."

I'm not going to -1 this suggestion out right. I'll make a counter suggestion instead:

Armor: 600000
Shield: Same as Goliath, as this is a Goliath
Thrust: 15,000N
Max speed: 50m/s (increased speed to help in repositioning while mining)
Spin Torque: 8,000N (increased spin torque to help with repositioning while mining)
Turbo Speed: 150 m/s
Turbo Energy: 150/s
Turbo Thrust: 8,000
Cargo: 550CU
Ports: 3 L
Scanners: Full suite of scanners, including boosted mineral.

Power-cell Grid:58 (standard Goliath power cell)

This is effectively , supposed to be a mining variant of the Goliath. Neutering it, so it can't mine in dangerous areas, such as the unknown, is counter to what this ship is supposed to be used for. To that end, i am suggesting that it can go 150 m/s. This is to allow it more easily get away from threats, because it does not have turrets. To sustain this increased turbo velocity, this version of the Goliath will drain the cell at 150/s. This still allows for infini turbo.

Shield/armor It is a Goliath, so it doesn't need to be super weak. In fact, for mining in dangerous areas, it will need armor and shielding. The current shields on the Goliath are super weak already. To give it some sort of negative, i dropped the turbo thrust.

I dropped the CU it can hold because the additional ports take up space. There is no reason in this VO galaxy, that a Goliath should carry 1000 CU, unless it doesn't have a dock. The amount of space it holds can be even lower than this, because auojet means other players can scoop. If the docking port is removed, i'd be game for upping the cargo to 650.

It will be manufactured like any other capital ship and has insurance.

Port reasoning: With this set up, a pilot could equip one queen beam and two hd beams. Since capital ships can mine on command, a enterprising pilot could have this ship, plus a normal Goliath, plus a trident all mining at the same time. Additionally, they could have their own non capship mining as well. This creates a very efficient mining scenario.

Since this is a special version of the Goliath: full sub only

By this metric, the XC is useless for standard hauling. You'd be amazed what creative pilots do in VO. There are some trade routes that pay out big for just a simple one WH hop. Allowing players to easily move 1600 CU of items seems rather silly in the current VO economy.

I like the concept of a mining specialized Goliath. Personally I'd like to see more specialization in the game.

I'm going to disagree with WAF on the cargo size, I think capitol ships at present have piteously small cargo holds given their apparent dimensions compared to a behemoth.

The only justification I can see for that is game play related. Mass trade hauling creating too much of a haves vs have-nots issue. I'm not entirely sure what could, or should be done about that.

If you're going to go that route, then the trident should be getting a huge cargo space buff.

+1 to We all float's suggested Goliath, -1 to super-haulers. Buff capship cargo holds and you just enlarge the already huge gap in the abilities of capship owners and non-capship-owners.

"If you're going to go that route, then the trident should be getting a huge cargo space buff."

Yes, the only problem with that is game-play, specifically mass trading creating too much of an imbalance. I'm not sure what mechanics to suggest to correct for that. It's not something I am suggesting for the immediate future.

It's something I would like to see, but not until the economy is structured in a way to handle that. There should be some way to make it possible for players to have really big space trucks, without condemning those who don't have them to penury. Exactly how to do that, I don't know.

Counter counter suggestion

Freemium Brick

No real shield
No ports
Ultra slow
No turbo
Barely any cargo
No ensurance
Just give it a dock and name it a freemium capship

(Basically the first idea without creativity and too many zeros in some stats)

Addressing suggestions to modify the OP, capships should only have one large port, and never have a small port.

Also capships with multiple large ports would be brought to deneb to rip up NPCs.
