Vendetta Online Social Night.

Okay this is a very short suggestion. I'll start with this: I love Vendetta Online. I love it's drama, nonsense, it's loveable characters. And without a hint of Irony. You guys have had a positive impact on my life. The thing I don't enjoy is that so many of you guys have built ancient grudges that today... have so little meaning. Especially since you think you're playing against each other, but in reality you're playing WITH each other.

My suggestion is a heavily moderated VO social night where new players can talk in VC, and a new VO discord Voice text channel, with these wonderful fanatical people that give VO such a positive energy. Heavily moderated I.E Luxen or Whistler, if they are willing, in vc to mute, tell off or join in if necessary. Make it a rare occasion. Once a month maybe. Encourage people to chat outside of their bubble and generate some bonding social capital with this community.

Settle some ancient grudges by connecting people who never normally talk. They will definitely shoot each other after but connecting the real people to the characters they play will make even in-game enemies think twice before unleashing the meanness and general anger that's part of VO's culture. It would also allow people to talk to community directly. I.E someone wants to talk about a suggestion before posting it on the forums.

I didn't proof read this. It's been sitting in a word document for awhile.

Thing is, is that this *kinda* already happens on rare occasion? Usually Ellis or historically Bqnzai will sit in the discord's voice channel until other people show up (and thank you for doing that!), and unless i'm busy or in an anti-social mood, i'll hop in too. And, so far, I think i've caused more problems than anyone else; in VC, where people can connect in real time with all the nuance of voice, the "grudges" that seem so vitriolic in-game do not overly affect anyone.

I'm not a very social person; i think hanging out with me would probably be VERY awkward, so you won't see me being the initiator of these random voice calls. More so, i'm not always in the mood for social interaction. However, I do >try< to keep an eye on the discord as long as i've got an internet connection, so if there ever ARE issues, just shoot me a PM. If i'm not actually around, I can at least follow up. But, I don't see that being neccesary under normal circumstances.

Especially since you think you're playing against each other, but in reality you're playing WITH each other.

Boy there is some deep cryptic truth right there.

I appreciate the sentiment.

I could stay in Vc with you all day & night Luxen. Just saying ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I'm not opposed to this, though we'd need to discuss what "heavily moderated" means.

I've dropped in on a few Discord voice chats with Ellis or Bqnzai and, despite the fact that my presence might be provoking, I have had a pleasant experience each time and did not have occasion to moderate anyone. Nor did people leave in droves when I arrived. I haven't found Luxen to be awkward, but that might be saying more about me than Luxen.

Lots of these "grudges" are epic rp of characters. Many traders have pirate alts they prey on there trader char guild. I believe the fact that this is a rp game is seen most in any vc

I am typically willing to go into VC and enjoy chatting with most people. Of course real time conversation is difficult to monitor and regulate, since what is spoken is instantaneous and there is no document to bear witness to someone's misbehavior. I have several characters in VO that span a lot of different play styles and role play. This is why I never selected a character name to be displayed in VO discord.

Also some people just cannot let others role play and I am reluctant to join VC with players that have a habit of trying to break my RP in game. This is the issue with VC you could say... can players cope with discovering their most hated pirate is also their best friend in game? Those who get a good laugh out of this are the players I love most. It is unfortunate that there still exists veteran players and old guilds that are modeled toward exposing people's alts and talking down role play.

Still I do have fun in VC from time to time but I have noticed there is a segment of the player base that just will not participate in VC. It saddens me that some of the most interesting players in VO just don't want to know others that well. Currently there are a handful of guilds that heavily promote VC and I have visited and joined most of those channels to say hi at one time or another. If you want to meet me in VC, feel free to ask or invite any one of the characters that you know to be me!

This is the response I wanted. When I'm back from my break I'll talk to Whistler and try to organize something myself. This isn't something that requires Mr.Incarnate. I appreciate the kind sentiments.

i appreciate vendetta social night being named for when I log on, but I cant promise much. I log on when I can and players die while chatting... good times. But... it shouldn't be an event that can be counted upon.
