ships should drop damaged crates after battle rarely

ships should drop rarely after they go boom. this would rarely give players access to ships they destroy and pick up the crate. there would be a charge to repair the crate back to a ship of course, maybe double charge of the original ship depending on faction that picked it up due to how rare items are to rebuild it. in certain battles this could increase player interaction and incentives.

consider it the 1 in 20 shot where the shooter only hit the pilot canopy. And... the ship picking it up has to have the full cargo space.

That's a really confusing post. What I understand from it:

When capships are destroyed, there should be a chance of dropping the ships they're carrying. These ships would drop as cargo crates which can be picked up by someone else, provided they have enough space in their ship. They would then have to repair it for a high cost. Chance should be about 1/20. This would increase incentive to take part in battles.

While I agree it would be cool for players to be able to fly the national ships of other nations, the design in the suggestion makes it unbalanced. Valkyries and UDVs are 150 cu each, and can thus be picked up in XCs. Prometheus is 250 cu, meaning you can't pick it up in an XC. That's an imbalance. Fix that and you atleast get a balanced suggestion. Then we can tackle the question of whether it should be possible for players to fly ships of other nations or not.

I think you may have added in the capship part there. I think he's suggesting that a ship that is destroyed will become a cargo crate.

this has nothing to do with capships.... If I destroy 100 x1's it be nice if one of them dropped a crate

Wait...you want ships to drop their own "framework" which can be rebuilt upon. Not when they're being carried as cargo, but the actual ship itself. If the dropped ship can be rebuilt only with serious nerfs and super-high rep costs (like 10x a hound) then +1.

What it will definitely be used for is "farming" these ships from one alt to the other. It's unnecessarily making stuff easy. If you want ships from all three nations, make yourself some alts and keep them ready at strategic locations. To mellow down this huge upside this suggestion would provide, a downside would be that these "farmed" ships would not have as good stats as their original ships, and would have super high repair costs.

So why would a ship I turn into gauss mk3 goo be somehow turned into a crate for me to pick up? Let's start there.

sid... nobody in vo wants to kill 100 x1's to get one x1... and the devs could detect farming and abuse. Would you be willing to let me kill 99 of your scps or 99 of your x1s so I can get 1?

As he said, alts. Plenty people have more credits than they know what to do with, so this would definitely happen, a lot. And your stated goal - getting ships into the hands of people who are not supposed to have them - goes against the declared design ideas of the game, so this gets an easy

Not me, since they cost me crystals and those are more valuable to me even if you gave me 2 mil per ship. But if I had a premium sub, I'd do it for 300k a ship. No doubts about that. I mean if I can earn 200k in seconds just to undock, go out of NFZ, be killed and forgive kill, it's a pretty sweet deal. Might even set up a bot for it.

At your end, you're getting an X-1 for 30 mil. Kinda a high price to pay, but we can't forget we have players with billions. If the player is decently skilled in an X-1 and can make sure they don't lose it much, it's a good deal for them as well.

I actually don't think this is all that vulnerable to abuse at any scale that matters. Sure it could be done, and plenty of players can afford it. However the time burn to do it beyond maybe transferring a couple ships would make it a highly impracticable alternative to simply leveling the alt and transferring the credits to buy the ship in the first place. Consider the alt would need to have access to an XC to pickup the hulk. As for having ships that character isn't supposed to have, why not just use the alt that can already buy them?

A system doesn't need to be impossible to abuse, if the intended way is easier then some kind of exploit, that's really just as good. Sure some people will chose the exploitative way for the novelty of it, but they're really only wasting their own time and money, so I fail to see the harm.

It could be cool to have a secondary market on hulks, people collect hulks they come across and try to sell them on to other players. I think any abuse/farming at any scale worth doing would be easy enough to detect.

I don't care much about the suggestion, but I don't see how this could be abused. 1 in 100 is pretty low for anyone to bother.
