dormant players

Oct 12, 2004 FrayArray link
Ok, so the game gets released and ppl start signing up. They play, and the months go by. Then life happens players have other "real life" things that they need to take care of. Would it be possible to have some sort of dormant acct. option. Where the player doesn't pay the monthly fee, can't log on to the game, but the character info would be saved (or archived). Then, in the future, when the person has more time again they can start paying the nominal fee and start playing again without having to start back at square one?

Obviously there would have to be some sort of limit to how long a character would be held in it's dormant mode.

Seems like a nice idea. A sort of "vacation mode" where you get 30 to 60 days off might be nice. Save $20 and take care of what you need to get taken care of without worrying about losing your precious valk.

Or maybe rather than 1 to 2 free months, a special $2 a month fee to maintain your account without having to pay full price provided you never actually log in to play for that whole month.

i have no idea where to place my post - but here :-)

sry folks, but - i tested the game about 2 hours - and - i dont like it
- flying is absolutely not realistic
- the grafic is like watching TV trough a the bottom of a coke-bottle
- i find it stupid, to get in a storm while jumping to another sector - and be killed there by the hand of 5 or 6 pirates.
- fighting is like "moorhuhn" - just klicking sprites :-(

i am just playing jumpgate (www.mightygames.com) for about 2 jears - and sry - vendetta has no chance !!

i wish you all the best - really !!

This is an idea I like a lot. I've put away V for a few months many times throughout the test. I'd like that option for the finished game.

and mbblue: thanks for the chuckle.

@mbblue
You just thoroughly flamed this game on the way out the door.
Why should people argue with you? Why would you care what people think if you are going back to JG anyway?

The game is not for you. That's great.
So spare us all the drama, and simply move along.

Judging by your attitude though, a mod is going to "help" you move along.
Heh.

mbblue, your thougths are welcome, your method of delivery could use a little work. your post is completely off topic and irrelivant to this thread.

as to your specific points.

- flying is absolutely not realistic
which mode did you use, arcade or physics, the game physics are quite well modeled on reality. they simply have a speed cap that was added to make gameplay more functional.
- the grafic is like watching TV trough a the bottom of a coke-bottle
try changing your settings, make sure your game is set to display the same resolution your monitor is set to. Move the Level of detail sliders all the way to 20, adjust the other graphics options to high.

your lst 2 points im not even gonna adress, as i cant figure out exactly what you mean by the last one, and the storms are just a part of the game.

If vendetta isnt for you, thats fine, thank you for trying it, but i dont think that spending 2 hours on a beta-test (not a finished product) is any basis for deciding that "and sry - vendetta has no chance !!"

I know other massive multiplayer games keep your character for 3 months after you cancel it. Surely something similar would be done here. I dont think a fee is necessary.
