On the subject of combat

As soon as weapon and cargo mass was introduced, combat appeared to have slowed down. With ships suddenly accelerating at potentially half their previous rate, combat has drastically slowed down and suddenly I notice the twitch based fun slip away. On top of that, I notice bots don't seem to be affected by this mass and they can really zip around my ship.

As a supporter of unguided missiles, I really miss the fast paced action. When I heard that weapons would have mass, I imagined there would be new potential to completely change the playing field. The potential I saw in weapon mass was my assumption that ammo mass was possible as well. While I do not know if its feasible, I believe it would add a very enjoyable dynamic to Vendetta to have ships lose mass after firing off missiles and mines. Imagine fighting a battle as you and your opponent get faster as you fire off your weapons.

In addition I also think that the range of weapon masses is a bit too extreme. Large weapons are almost entirely impractical all together while neutron mk3s are light as feathers. I think that combat would be more interesting with subtle differences between you and your opponent being your only excuse for having died. Besides I miss the old acceleration all ships had. Considering every single ship we have thus far in Vendetta is the appropriate size of a fighter ship, I see no reason for such impractically massive weapons to even be constructed, let alone used on the battle field.

Well tonight I took out Sputnik's Valk with my Hog sporting a Plasma Devastator II, so they're not all THAT ineffective. Granted, a good deal of it was Sputnik's fault - he was defending an Itani convoy and managed to hit the transport, me, and a Prosus assault with his rockets. So after I used my PD to destroy the transport, I turned, PD'ed his Valk twice and he popped.

Course Eldrad in his Axia bus and twin Neutrons run circles around my Hog (no matter how full it is), so I'd say that things are decently balanced, although I wouldn't mind the PDII's mass reduced a bit so I'm not QUITE so slow.
