I've played advocate before, no worries there. While in flight yes the interface needs to be easier to use via key mashing, which is why I added editable macro buttons as one of my things. I would love to be able to send messages to people i'm fighting, like taunts, but as you said when you are flying the mouse is being used so it's not good to stop to type, being able to hit one button to send a small preset message would be nice. As far as "mouse clickable menus" some of that was ment more for when docked at stations or when you are in dead space where there is nothing going on and also was implying that there would be more content that mess with. At this point the game seems stripped down, as some have illuded to the fact that a lot of the aspects that a lot of people are asking for WERE in the game at one time and removed for one reason or another. =) I would just like to be able to adjust the alpha value on my radar screens to 100% so I could actually see astiroids in the circle, and maybe move some things around… I got a list but not worth posting.

All I think it needs is more user friendly in-game help menus with simple explanations of everything. Beyond that, more optional tutorials would be nice, something that goes over all the station tabs would help, as well as a whole command line tutorial. How does that sound? (Oh, and having voices in the tutorials would be really nice.

Having voiceovers in the game in many different areas would be an AWESOME addition, just look at what it did for EQ2!!!!! B)

I just started playing VO, and like it very much so far.

If you use a joystick, it remains functional whatever menu you're in. I allways keep the turbo button on my stick pressed while selecting a destination in the navigation screen so I won't have to wait as long while I fly the 3000k for warp.

I'm very much used to IRC and there I'm used to the fact that the chat-text I type goes to the tab I've got selected. Yet in VO, if you have the mission computer selected, you have to type m to send something to the mission computer and even if you have the channel tab selected, you still have to type a different key to send something to the active channel. And there's yet another key for sector messages...

I think it would be a lot more easy to understand if sector chat got it's own tab, there was only one chat-type-bar with one key to access that and the text goes to the currently active tab. Mission Computer, Active channel or Sector chat.
Group/Guild (never used those yet) could even get a tab and maybe one for personal messages, there's plenty of space up there for an extra 2 tabs.
That would be 2 less keys to remember, as tab-keys are displayed next to the tab.

Maybe an option to reduce the fontsize? it's kinda big on 21" 1600x1200

Well at one point i knew just how the noobies were feeling. I took like a one month break from vendetta and BOOM! I got hit woth all this new stuff. I seemed to learn it pretty quickly. I really didnt find it all that hard to get. True ive been in the game for a long time but still i felt like a noob again (probably cause i was 0/0/0/0). The interface really isnt that hard to get a grasp of after you've done it once or twice. The GUI might make it easier but it caould also clutter things up. I think this is gunna be a hit or miss situation
