Jump waypoints redux

Dec 05, 2004 CrippledPidgeon link
I know there are countless threads on this, but none have been brought up in the last couple weeks to my knowledge. Besides, mine is a little different.

While many people want to be able to choose sector waypoints to be able to go around known wormholes, I feel that makes evading pirates (or trailing CtC combatants) too easy. A player can simply make three waypoints through empty space and they've effectively lost their trail.

My suggestion is instead of making sector waypoints, we make system waypoints on the Universe Map. If an Itani wants to go from Deneb to Helios, they are forced to take all the jumps through Itani and then gray space, totalling some 15 systems that they have to pass through. A Serco making the same trip only has to go through Serco space, which only totals about 7 or 8 systems that they have to go through. It'd be nice to select which systems you want to go through, and the computer picks the fastest route through them (ie. wormhole to wormhole. Maybe at a later date is able to plot around KNOWN ion storms, but that's the limit that it has for sector waypoints). That way if I'm Itani and I wanted to go from Deneb to Helios, and I knew I wouldn't be followed by strike forces, or knew I could evade them, I could manually set the route that I wanted to take. But leave the automatic path choice open for normal routes like we have now.
