Goin Pirate

:) ok, just finished the lengthy process of leveling corvus standing, yay, I'm there. And now that I'm there, I realize that I have an excellent ship for taking on all 3 major factions. But that
I don't really have the weapons.

So I'm asking for 2 things here. First: I want to be able to drop my standing to -1000 with itani, and be able to attack them, just as though I were serco, whatever (maybe a dev could hotfix me to Unaligned faction, or just pure Pirate? :) wishful thinking, but hey).

Second: I'd like to make sure that the engine rebalancing takes into account the Corvus ships etc... so that we have useable weapons agains the light SVG's with their neut III's and the valks with the same. Unfortunately, the rail mk III is still a bit heavy for dogfighting, so short of a firing squad, we've got nothin.

P.S. I would also like to extend this on behalf of the UIT, since
their lack of weapons, and lack of a national conflict like the Itani/serco possess, leaves many of them without direction, its possible to create a fourth faction here as their direct enemy or more accurately, direct opposite. One chosen by the backwash of the other 3; I want to be part of that :).

Sooo... you're too lazy to cancel your own trade missions, so you ask the devs to help you out?

Get off your lazy ass and drop yer own standings you bloody trader.

No, my impression was that if I dropped my standing, Other itani would be able to attack me, but I would not be able to attack them, if this is wrong, good. I was lookin for clarification as much as anything else. And I still think that having a Grey space society is in order. Yah bloody insensitive trader-lover. :D

You can damage yer own nation once you hit -600, killing a loved secro or UIT in it itani space oughta do that for ya, ye bloody miner!

excellent, I may do that, after stockpiling about a hundred neut III's for good measure.

Itani? smell the stench of ye own pacifism, UIT? Ye apathy will bite ye, Serco? ye killed me father

Genka? Ye bored me mother, ye bloody economist

Well I guess being a pirate means you don't get to have the top weapons. It would be interesting if weapons could be traded between players. Then Shape here could be his evil self while bribing an Itani to supply him with neut3s.

The solution to the obvious exploitation possibilites is to make it so weapons cannot be equipped if you don't have high enough levels. Then Corvus, instead of selling the same equipment at a lower level, would sell a custom Corvus type of the same thing.

Buh. More work for the devs :/ But the only thing holding me back from going Shape's route is the knowledge that if I do, it'll be my 185m/s neut2s vs everyone elses 210m/s neut3s. 35m/s is one hell of a big difference. If Corvus offered a pirate version of the neut (or other weapons became viable again :D ), I'd be racing Shape for lowest standing with all factions.

I just tested the standing issue with Eldrad, he dropped my Itani standing to -1000 and we tested to see if I could hit him, I couldn't. So I don't know what {syn}n00b is doin right, but there's somethin else to it.

and I just have to say one more time, please don't make the benefit for a weekly competition the best weapon in the game, it just turns every battle into the exact same thing, and battles have begun to get boring. Its only the better pilots who can pull off the other weapons to any success, and the pilots, still green, that fall for them.

Yeah great, a prize is needed for the CTC but, why does it have to turn the entire game into the CTC. And why are the weapons for
the player kill medals still distinctly inferior to the neut III?

I've heard that there's one more railgun at 500 pk's, but unless you dropped its mass to 400, upped its fire rate to 1 sec, dropped its energy useage to about 80, and dmg down to about 1000, I'm probably not any more interested in it that I am in the mk III, which I use very occasionally.

Use the Neutron MkII + Corvus ships.

Why the heck are you asking all advantages in game?
Neutron mk III = Itani and serco only. (CtC)

PS : good. You finally became a true Pirate.

Nya the neutron Mk II is wayyy too heavy and not fast enough. Pirates won't be able to catch up with their prey, and even if they can the blasts won't move fast enough.

I know different parts open up when you have good standing with a nation but do they also open with one nation if you have bad standing with a different one.
Dec 14, 2004 johnhawl218 link
just because your bad with one nation doesn't mean that you've shown that your good with another. So to answer your question, NO =)

Well it does work the other way around. If you are known to be nice to one nation that is disliked by another you are hated by the 2nd nation even if you've never done anything to them.

i.e. during the Cold War sympathizing with Russia would mean that the USA would hunt you down and put you on trial. Even if you were a loyal American and had never done anything to hurt Americans.
