Maing Escape Pod Viable

Ok, we have just been shot down by a pirate, and are just about to explode, the stem registers that the core generator is on an overload corse and that there are more hull breaches then there is holes in swish cheese. it sends a signal and the emergency escaper pod is detached from the ship, effectively brining the cockpit out of the ship. the captain is safe but now what???

Two options:

1: thee escape pod heads strait for the home station at 320 m/s (the fastest pod there is)

2: send the SOS signal and have the nation pic us up.

now we look in detail of #1 and #2

Pro's:
game is more real and to die is not something taken lightly, for it takes time out of playing, less people will try the lone trader rout and instead hire player escorts, (maybe 3 valks and 2 cents)

con's:
Time, Time, Time... did i mention Time. it will take time to go back to the home station AND cost money for the fast pods. (fast pods? you ask)

Starting pod max speed 100 m/s
light pod - 140 m/s
med pod - 190 m/s
heavy pod - 250 m/s
Compound pod - 300 m/s (only ships with 10000 mass+)
Frigate class pod - 320 m/s (saves all on board)

cost...?... i don't now nor care, first of all.
L=20000
M=80000
H=150000
C=240000
FC=450000

and make it a one time buy only!!!!

type /EPSOS or Escape pod SOS and the government will come and pic you up in less then 10 sec (the same system we have now) but at the cost of 1000 cred's per WH from home station+. so if we were Itan and our home was in itan, and we where in corvus when we went BOOM, then it would be 8X1000 or 8000 creds to get home instantly.

or make it money and 5% all current xp (but will not make you go down a lvl.



one last thing

make the EP target-able, but because they are so fast and so small they are almost impassable to hit, an missile can't touch them because the are faster then the missiles.



alternative idea

make it so that the player drive the EP but it does not show up on radar

is max speed only no turbo and is very small, almost like a piece of space junk.
