What a Let Down

What I wonder is, What have you equipped your ships with when you try them?

A 3x gauss Valk is really an unpleasant affair, as the gauss clearly isn't a gun thats fit for a ship like the Valk, neither is the 3flare one a fit match.

It comes down to this quite a lot when you have lighter ships. On a heavier craft, you can say "sodit" and it won't change the balance of the ship much. However, take an -empty- valk out for a spin and you'll note something disconcertening.

@Sun Tzu
I purchased all three varients that were available to me last night, Itani Valk, Rune Valk, and Valk Vigilant, all three of them had drain with a fast charge battery.

True infiboost is not neccesary in combat and is really only good for getting around the universe, problem is all the combat is sooo far away from where you can purchase a valk that without it it's such a pain in the a$$ to get get it and fly all the way down to grey space. Which is the reason I probably will just get the Orion Cent and be done with it. There are other ships that I actually like better anyways, I just wanted to see what all the fuss is about. =)

A) Rune does not have drain with the fast charge battery

B) Infiniboost is a long-standing bug that would do well to be removed as it was originally supposed to be.

without infiboost this game would be soooo f'ing boring if it's removed I could see a downward trend in players IMO. I know I would stop trading farther distances and would probably become so frustrated with my ships inability to get anywhere that I would just find a new game.

We never had infiniboost before, and we had a steady increase of players. Infiniboost actually makes the game much more boring. Traders are never in danger. Fighters never have to worry about getting where they're going on time. Barely anyone has to monitor their batteries when boosting. My theory is that the game's been less fun since infiniboost than ever before. People can just zoom out to 3000m even it they fired their weapons down to 1 unit of energy.

i use the prometheus , orion rev c and svg.

60 drain and it work very well.

btw PvP isn't easy.
if you want infiboost so go in a ship with 50 drain but don't whine if you got owned in fight.

I think this has been mentioned but why not make the turbo button act like the acceleration button, with variable thrust. so that you don't have to burn at max speed. That would leave the infiboost in but allow yourself the option not to use it. So you would have:

Normal Speed (docking, fighting, etc.)

Cruising Speed (higher speed but still infiboost for long distance travel/traders)

Max Burn (pushing it all the way up for evasion and timed missions, etc.).

How about firing while boosting not only drains energy, but drains your speed as well. Maybe disengaging your turbo for every shot fired. Course shots are fired in 1/10'ths of seconds or less so it wouldn't be too noticeable. (not refire rate, just the clicking of your mouse) This doesn't solve anything that we've been talking about it just makes it harder to chase someone in an ibg and fire at the same time.

But the problem is that it's too hard to chase people, not too easy...

Just to clear things up, the thrusts of each ship (as I know them):
SVG 235 N
IBG 230 N
Orion Rev C 230 N
Corvus Vult 230 N
Cent MK III 220 N
Vult III/IV 220 N
IDF Valk 215 N
Marauders 210 N
Other Valks 210 N
Centurion 210 N
Centurion MKII 200 N
Vulture MKII 200 N
Vulture 190 N

Some of these are somewhat old data, but the valk has less thrust. However, it is true that valk only weighs 3000 kg base. It's also true that it's a lot bigger and fatter. I haven't flown valks so I won't say my conclusion.
Any mistakes on the list, please point it out :)

Only with some ships Rogue. The heavier ships with bad acceleration of course, but yeah that was a stupid post. :P

Did you read the thread in Bugs about Thrust, Blaster? The numbers are pretty much meaningless. At those thrusts with our ships' masses, it would take minutes to accelerate up to speed. What with the funky curves and the inability of even the devs to provide clear numbers, I wouldn't base any of my stats on that right now.

this thread right?

Well those numbers (thrust, with mass size and hull) are pretty much the only numbers I got to work with. They're not 100% meaningless, so might as well post it.
